701 is general finance concepts, but the teacher (Vines) is more concerned with your grasp of the concepts and reasons for making decisions than just the math equations. He is a great teacher that provides alot of zoom sessions and answers questions so that people can understand it. When you show your work on the tests, he provides partial credit even if you get it wrong.
710 (Hsieh) on the other hand, deals with more advanced investment concepts, but is more math structured. There are a LOT of equations and you basically have to teach yourself from the provided materials. The tests are multiple choice, but you either get it right, or wrong... there is no partial credit for a question. Overall, it is much harder. The language barrier makes the zoom sessions a bit more difficult to grasp the concepts.
I spend 25% of my time working on 701 work, and 75% of my time on 710 work. I have a high A in 701 and a mid B in 710.

Well, I take back many of the harsh things I've said (or thought) about James. She just sent out an email that there will be no Application Forum 3. I've never been so happy for something so small
quote:
The remaining work in MKT 701 is no where near the intensity level of the first portion of the project. In fact, your workload has been reduced
....
I want to you to able to focus developing the Marketing Plan for your chosen strategy this week. As a result, I've decided to forgo the third application forum.

WhoNeedsSleep Do you need a finance calculator for 710 (Hsieh)? My concentration is Finance too but I tend to delay Hsieh's classes after reading so many comments on this forum.

Thank you! Does anyone know what page I can find advice on pairing courses? Or does anyone have any advice? I am trying to decide what classes I should double up on. After James, I am terrified to choose on my own as I thought MKT 701 would be a breezy but boy was I wrong.
