Yes. Be nervous........ again - the material is completely different than the examples in the slide deck or the book. I expected to breeze through it as I’ve been a controller and financial analyst for 15 years but it was pretty difficult. Making me a tad nervous for the final.

I'm perplexed as to why he presents it in a different way than taught. I end up sitting there second guessing my life.

That makes me nervous as well. Any suggestions as to what to specifically study, prep, etc.? What kind of notes do you have on hand? How did it feel lengthwise? I know we have two hours...

I missed 1, but thought I was going to miss more than that. I was pretty certain on about 5 questions, the others I wasn’t remotely sure of. I honestly think he looked at grades and saw it was above his normal average and decided to add questions that he knew the majority would miss because he didn’t cover it and it’s not in the book. Pretty silly the discrepancy between what he teaches / covers and what he includes on the test.

I, personally, dont have any sort of secret notes. Power points, videos, excel ....whatever he gives us is what I have.

I work the demo problems in the chapters, and in the back of my mind i think "whats the point, he won't do anything like this".

Exactly - working the examples given and problems in the book is useless, because the assessments have completely different questions that aren’t taught or presented in his material or the book. He got called out about it in one of the forums and said “ yes it wasn’t included anywhere but you could have just googled it in 2 seconds “. Seriously wtf !?

I have trust issues with this final exam. My gut tells me "study what he does NOT have on the practice exam."

Lol @ trust issues. I know the feeling, this class seems to throw curve balls.

Good luck to all those in FIN701 with Vines, last exam window opens tomorrow and then we can kiss this one goodbye! One more for me, 760 with McLaughlin and then I'm walking!

Were the multiple choice problems like some that we’ve seen on the last couple of assessments? Solving a scenario and then choosing the correct answer?

So I'd definitely like to understand this, as it seems Ambrosio is one of the recommended professors in older posts, but more recent posts seem to imply that it's perhaps not the best choice.

For those of you currently taking Ambrosio, would you recommend him?

tricky question to answer - if you have an accounting/finance/business background, you can take him and do ok. If you don't, i wouldnt recommend taking him because the material is not really tested as it is taught. In fact, some of the material tested is nowhere to be found in the textbook or his powerpoint slides. I will end up with a good grade only because i have a great deal of experience with it in my career - had i not had the real world experience, i would have probably ended up with a C or worse.

Completely agree wit zach. I will probably end up with a B. I have no accounting background and apparently I am just super lucky.

In that case, I suppose the bigger question is... who else is there? And how are they? Anyone else talking FIN with someone who isn't Ambrosio? How is it?

I have an extensive business background and BSBA, but I still find that "school brain" and "work brain" have mostly not been the same. The BSBA is decades ago, so I've really forgotten all of it. I don't like curve balls in classes that don't prepare you for them. Granted, it would be tough for even the best teachers to manage to prepare you to fully think both inside and outside the box in 7 weeks in an online environment.

Hello everyone,

I recently started this program and I am about to finish up MADM 701 with F. Williams. I am currently enrolled in ISDS 705 with Gibbs and 710 with Darrat.

I'm so thankful I found this board. It will be a huge asset to me as I continue my journey.

I have one question. Is it better to take ISDS 705 with Lin or Gibbs? I've read good reviews about both.

There are no good recent reviews for Lin. The reviews about his class being copy and paste are gone now that the tests are proctored. That said, although not as easy as it used to be, Lin's class is still easy, it just sucks. It's boring, irrelevant, and outdated. Given the chance again, I would probably take Gibbs.

However, I did post some details on how to get through Lin's class a few pages back. I don't know how much work Gibbs' class is, but Lin's should be 8 hours max per test (there are 3 tests). Log in once to get the syllabus and class info, spend about 6-8 hours reading and prepping for each test, log in 3 times for the 3tests, and you're pretty much done.
