So how are everyone's classes going thus far? MKT 705 is off to a bit of a "rocky" start, but nothing major. First time professor isn't familiar with Moodle it seems. We have a discussion question due and it must meet a TurnItIn threshold of 20%. The link would not allow you to submit your question, so the professor went in to fix it. Now that it is open, there is no TurnItIn link. The course itself doesn't seem like it will be bad though. Just wanted to update.

So how are everyone's classes going thus far?
1. The textbook seems better but the chapters have significantly more information to digest and commit to memory.
2. The powerpoints are of low quality and feel like something that was thrown together last minute. I don't think simply studying those are going to work for the exams in this class.
3. We have a 500-word minimum assignment each week but for Module 1 it's simply answering 6 questions he grabbed from the book, word for word. The weird thing is that we need to include an external source for each question but they can be easily answered from the book and aren't questions originally intended to generate discussion.
4. 3 of the 7 weeks include an addititional discussion forum assignment, which I assume will involve answering a discussion question and then responding to a classmate's answer.
I know of one person who has taken the exam (which also uses Proctorio and has 35 multiple choice and true/false questions) and they said it was difficult. I dont' plan on taking it until this weekend.

Ouch. Sorry to hear that DieDaily. Hopefully it will get better. That was my fear with the course.

Anyone in MADM 715 a little worried about the weekly quizzes? Since they count for half of our grade, I am trying to figure out what to focus on, what the quiz will consist of etc. Anyone that has taken this course previously, can you provide some insight? It has probably changed since this is a new "textbook" so I may have to wait to take the first one to find out.

Hey @robbie.
I am also in MADM 715. Considering she said making flash cards would be a good idea, I am wondering how detailed the exam will be. Ex: will she ask, in what year was Title VII approved, type of questions.
Currently, I am confident with the concepts in the readings. But I am not up past midnight trying to commit dates, etc to memory JIC
@diehard
MADM 715 is okay so far. Amount of work is reasonable and surprisingly I like that we are using twitter and doing a virtual project. (ask me again in a couple of weeks if i feel the same! ha!)
ISDS 705 has me wondering should I even study or just CTRL+F when its time for the exam and use that extra time for MADM

Have you taken the exam? Shen mentioned 2 things in her lecture videos(state of the states and the history of gaming). Just wondering if this is all we need to study and how many questions? Any info would be helpful.

I'm in MADM 715 with y'all.... so far the twitter was the trickiest part for me.
We shall see.... not minding her text so far.

MADM715 seems OK so far. We'll see how the first test goes this weekend. The assignments are certainly OK and the "book" is straight forward.
People do seem to be reading way too much into things on the Student Forum. I've don't recall seeing this level of panic/insecurity in any of my other classes.

For those in MKT 705, the exam isn’t bad. I know it’s stated multiple times, but know the various timelines from the PPTs. You’ll be glad you did.

For those who like to plan ahead the class schedules are out on myLSUS through Spring19. Keep in mind they’re still adding classes, as I noticed a couple from the rotation schedule aren’t listed. Just a heads up!

@ marismi0827
Where are you seeing the class schedules on myLSUS. I have never known where to look.I have used the one posted on moodle but it only covers through December.

I feel for those having to take MKT 701 and were hoping for someone other than James teaching it this Summer. I guess Darrat teaching it back in the Fall was a one time deal.

I’m one of those you’re speaking of :(. I’m hoping more sessions are added. James is teaching both summer AND fall session, but I have to take it since I plan to graduate in December. Crossing my fingers for added classes!

Even if more sections get added, she'll most likely teach them all as she did for Spring AP1.
In hindsight, while very demanding, James was fair in that there were a lot of extra credit opportunities, a dropped test and a removed forum post. It's the 30+ page paper that destroys everyone.
