What did George W. Bush do to improve the economy and ability to earn a living or create one's path?
What has Obama done to improve the economy and ability to earn a living or create one's path?

Cut taxes for all taxpayers; thus energized the private sector. He made it easier for an individual to find a job and create his own path.

George Bush had the tax cuts which allowed people to keep more of their income every year. Medicare Part D was of great benefit to retired persons who needed help affording medicines. However, there was much he could have done to prevent the housing crises and he failed to do anything of substance.
Barack Obama has raised taxes by letting the tax cuts expire. He also raised payroll taxes, brought back the death tax, levied more taxes on home sales, and more taxes on health insurance plans. He has been a regulatory nightmare, as his appointees have held up drilling permits, pipelines, refineries, chemical plants, ect hampering the oil and gas industry. His healthcare initiative has been a disaster for hiring. Despite the delays in implementation, the law creates additional costs of hiring employees, and the magnitude of those costs remains uncertain as long as full implementation continues to be delayed. This has left many businesses in a holding pattern of hiring as uncertainty of future expenses scares them from hiring.
His regulatory reforms in response to the recession were pitched as a way to get banks lending again while remaining solvent, but despite low interest rates (more more likely because of them), capitol is hard to come by. Affordable loans are difficult to get for small businesses and first time home buyers. This has stymied investment and business development nation-wide. His policy on net-neutrality is also creating a dangerous precedent which will completely destroy the only level playing field small and medium-sized businesses had on which to compete with the largest multinationals, the internet.
All in all, Bush was a mediocre president economically, while Obama has been straight up harmful.

Obama inherited a mess...such a mess that you have to give him a pass for at least the first couple of years of his presidency.
That said, there are more people out of the workforce than at any time in history, if I am not mistaken - 6 years into his presidency. That is shameful.
Bush will rightfully go down in history as a pretty terrible president...he started a useless war and the largest financial collapse since the Great Depression happened on his watch.
He did, however, enjoy some prosperous times as well from an economic standpoint - arguably built on the smoke and mirrors of subprime mortgages though.
It is hard to imagine that anything good will be said of the Obama presidency relative to his economy. The stock market is admittedly at an all time high, but only because of continuous federal pumping of money.

Except that private job creation has been better under Pres. Obama. President Bush had the benefit of governments hiring more and more.

I still don't understand why people give so much credit or blame to presidents. Pres. Obama increased government spending just like just about every other president. He gave us all a tax cut for a couple years on our payroll taxes. It's easier for people to find jobs than it was on the day he was inaugurated.

Both have been bad. Arguing over which one was better or worse is pointless and futile. The Bush tax cuts were a disaster, and Obama's propping up of Wall St is a continual disaster.

I don't know why so many people blame the head coach when a team sucks. Maybe it has something to do with the decisions he made during games or his inability to evaluate talent.

New Agency Proposed to Oversee Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae
By STEPHEN LABATON
Published: September 11, 2003
The Bush administration today recommended the most significant regulatory overhaul in the housing finance industry since the savings and loan crisis a decade ago.
Under the plan, disclosed at a Congressional hearing today, a new agency would be created within the Treasury Department to assume supervision of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, the government-sponsored companies that are the two largest players in the mortgage lending industry.
. . . (at the end of the article, the reader can recall why this attempt failed)
“These two entities — Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac — are not facing any kind of financial crisis,” said Representative Barney Frank of Massachusetts, the ranking Democrat on the Financial Services Committee. ”The more people exaggerate these problems, the more pressure there is on these companies, the less we will see in terms of affordable housing.”
Representative Melvin L. Watt, Democrat of North Carolina, agreed.
”I don’t see much other than a shell game going on here, moving something from one agency to another and in the process weakening the bargaining power of poorer families and their ability to get affordable housing,” Mr. Watt said.

You know that debt Republicans keep ranting and raving about? Two of the biggest contributors to it are the Bush tax cuts(less government revenue) and the Iraq war. I know they put a little extra money in everyone's pocket, but the long term effects have been a disaster.

The federal government takes in PLENTY of money even with the Bush tax cuts. Their problem is they spend way too damn much.

Obama has made Govt employment a great career path.
That, and starting worthless endeavors with "green" in their name to suck off $$$$ from the public trough until they fall flat on their worthless faces.

I hate bush because dumb shite liberals can tell even dumber people "it's because bush cut taxes" but really it is because Bush supported the same failed policies that are now being ramped up 20 fold to "stimulate" the economy and help the "underprivileged"

Don't disagree, but the problem is spending increased under Bush, which is why the tax cuts were a disaster.

Why this is not common knowledge is a testament to the media bias and scurrilous DEM propaganda that has pervaded the political scene in the past five decades.
Every economic and social problem we have in this nation are a DIRECT RESULT of DEM economic malfeasance and planned destruction of the traditional family structure.
How the media allows the DEMs to blame any of this on the GOP is beyond bizarre.
