Honestly, the film was the absolute antithesis to Superman Returns. I don't necessarily think that's a good thing since they went ridiculously over-the-top with the action sequences. I don't hate the movie, but I've got lots of issues with it.

This. It only seems hated because the people that dislike it probably have a more personal or a long standing relation to the property, so their opinions are more in disappointment.
