This thread is disgusting. If Native Americans say it's offensive, then it's offensive. I'm sure most of y'all consider yourselves "good Christians"...

That's the thing...they didn't. White-guilt liberals did. The name was coined by Native American players who played for the team not long after it was founded. Redskin is not a racial slur, it's a term of endearment, and was meant as such at the time the name was coined as well as throughout the entire history of the word. "Redskin" is not the same as the n word, or any number of racial slurs that I could type here to get banned because it was never used as a put down. It was a source of cultural pride.

This.

It's like saying it's insulting to call African Americans "Blacks" or Anglo Americans "Whites".

What about the Washington Blackfaces? I'm sure there would be no backlash, I mean it's just a trait like someone with red skin

Would you be offended if they were called the Washington Whitefaces?

Nope

Then again my race wasn't oppressed/enslaved in this country

How many black people do you know that were enslaved?

Wait a damn minute ... white people in this country currently have Indian slaves?

How in the heck did I not know about this?

I must've missed the damn boat, crap.

No, it would be like a team calling themselves The Coonasses. A moniker that is a source of pride among the people who identify with it.

This OP further reinforces my assertion that Republicans mostly just want to insult people and tell fart jokes.
