Yellow Cab is going to blow a gasket though.

most definitely. They will play this up to the fact that the main source of money is going out of state. Where as yellow cab and others are "local". This is the big fight NOLA had recently and Landrieu backed the cab unions.

The whole thing sounds great but I wouldn't want to have people yacking in my car after a 2am Uber pickup.

Doesn't happen often, if that happens you get banned from Uber and can't ever use it again.

All the issues people bring up in these threads are issues Uber has thought of and addressed. I've used it around 80-100 times and I have never once had a bad experience.

I also see BR local gov shitting all over this, since it threatens the DWI Checkpoint shakedown money revenue stream.

But how great would it be? Everyone talks about wanting BR to be progressive San Francisco, Dallas, Austin, Denver. All it takes is letting a union get ahold of any argument and they're gonna frick it all up.

They said earlier on NPR that Uber has an app where they link up with local taxi's and you use the Uber app to get a cab.
