Stop avoiding chips and pitches. Practice them often. Can you chip and pitch decently at your practice facility? I know plenty of people who can hit the shots, but like you (and me sometimes) you lose confidence on the course.

Obviously we know that mishits at that range can blow up a hole, but avoid the temptation to avoid. Your confidence won't increase until you start hitting those shots.

I'm all for playing the game in a way that makes it enjoyable, but sometimes confidence building just requires fricking it up for a while.
