Percy....I have one in my bag I bought last year when it first came out.
I've had the r7 draw for years. I had swung many of drivers for the last three years, but nothing I swung could match my r7, so I never made a switch.....until last year.
I love my R1. I made the purchase and went straight to the range to try and find my setting. The first 3 months I had it, I continued to try and find that "spot" with the settings. I continued to use my r7 in rounds and only hit the 1 on the range.
I don't get the distance, but it am much more accurate with my R1 now. I have not messed with my settings since last year and do not plan on it. One thing that helped me with the R1, was I went and got the shaft shortened slightly at our local golf USA because I am more comfortable addressing the ball closer off the tee box. Once I did this, I immediately found my setting and haven't changed since.
It's like everything else in the world. Some people hate it, some people love it.

I just got one about 3 weeks ago and I love it so far. I had been hitting the titleist 913 D2 for about a year prior. I like the titleist but it had a little to much sidespin, so if you were off a little bit that thing was slicing or hooking into oblivion. The R1 shot dispersion I find is a lot tighter, and I like the adjustability. I set it to one click towards draw, and higher loft. Ball flight is nice. It's also very long.

You bought a new driver, but didn't use it on the course for 3 months because you couldn't figure out the correct settings? Doesn't sound like a ringing endorsement to me.
