People are going to have to start to accept that Wondo is above Aron on the striker pecking order.

At least that's the way it appears

I don't give a shite what happened in the last 10 minutes. At least we figured out not to bother with bringing in a third CB when we're protecting a lead

Did I see a picture of MLK? How could he leave off a US World Cup championship from his speech?

The late defensive subs effed up the clean sheet, but that's pretty much all you want out of a final friendly...especially when you can get Josmer back on the score sheet.

Now let's go kill Ghana.

Wrong or right at this point to be disappointed in the play of Zusi and Bedoya?

Bedoya made that first goal happen.

Bedoya's been good in both of his matches (made the first goal today).

Zusi had an absolutely terrible pass earlier.

Yeah great play

They, Zusi especially, just don't look sharp to me.

Zusi has looked extremely pedestrian in the last few matches.

Reading this thread made me come to a realization: Most fans are pissed unless we win 3-0

We tend to be super negative, especially toward certain players, than most fans.

We looked way better tonight than we did against Turkey, but Turkey are a better team than Nigeria. Beckerman as the shield allowed both Jones and Bradley to get forward, and press, which their athleticism allows them to do. Beckerman wasn't caught out for pace in the middle, but his passing wasn't good enough. If only we had a third player as athletic as Jones and Bradley who could hold the pivot, but Beckerman will do.

I hope we see this against Ghana, because this set-up will allow us to fall back into our defensive shape when we lose the ball, and then Ghana will have to break us down rather than beat us in transition, which is where they are most dangerous.

Some bits of our play today were the best I've seen from us in a while. One touch passing, good movement, everything but the final ball.

The goal by Nigeria shouldn't have happened, as even if Chandler is upfield trying to create a chance, having three centerbacks should negate any counterattacking opportunity. It was just poor defending all the way around.

I thought Zusi looked pretty good. Some nice passes.

It's almost remarkable how much the general opinion of Beckerman has changed in the last year or so. He could start our opening WC game and people would be fine with it, after being a broken fricking record for years about how awful he was.

I think Beckermann is legit better than he was though. Was really good in the Gold Cup too

I'm not sure what he's really improved at. He's always made smart decisions with the ball. He's not a great passer but he rarely gives the ball away (he had a bad giveaway today). He's always been pretty good at doing some subtle things to keep possession and keep the ball moving. He's always been good positionally, and he's always been a terrible athlete.

To me he's always been a solid squad player. I'm fine with him starting because this formation suits him and it allows Jones and Bradley to play to their strengths (this formation and lineup makes sense in general).

Sounds a bit odd, but a good game for Beckerman is one where you barely notice him.
