Zusi's corners were poor today, but he can do it. It's one argument for starting him over Bedoya (I think that's the only real position debate left).

Just start Brad Davis for his magnificent set piece ability, I guess.

I'll eat a little crow. I said a few days ago that I would rather Chandler play than Beasley. I was wrong. Beasley played well and helped clear up some defensive issues.

I think the formation suited our starters perfectly. I thought Jones played one of his best games for the US, altidore played like we need him too, and we were solid defensively. Also we seemed to be in much better shape. I'm excited.

Gonzalez is getting poorer and poorer, Goodison would have been the better option.

BEAS starts every game save maybe Germany.

Besler can't be blamed for the penalty, I actually thought a penalty could have been given a second before, but the player didn't go down as his foot was clipped, the the player puts his foot between Beslers and falls down, should have already been a penalty anyway.

J.K. knew exactly what formation he was going to play against Ghana, he was just being cagy.

WE READY

Isn't Beasley decent at set pieces?

To the game, I think this is our 11 against Ghana and I like it. Beckerman solidifies the D but also makes us more dangerous offensively by allowing Bradley and Jones to move forward.

Fabian is quickly becoming my second favorite player behind Bradley.

Only thing is I wish we would have subbed more earlier to get more guys some time. However I do understand if JK wanted to treat this as an actual match and not do that

2-1 US. Jozy scored twice and we looked pretty damn solid all around

I think J.K. wanted to simulate live action vs. Ghana, hence all the players played longer today.

SCORE 2-1 but it could of been 5-0 by the 80th minute, we dominated this game.

Yes, but you can't keep moving your LB from side to side.

I know just thought I remember him being pretty good at them. He could at least take them from the left but that would be all out swinging balls. If Bedoya can't do it well I guess Bradley is another option but I love him at the edge of the box for the cleanup.

I'm not really concerned with the late penalties, because that happens when shift the backline with a bunch of subs during a friendly. The communication breaks down.

me either. i was just pissed at fricking timmy tim

funniest part of all of that was when he came in biesler was like "STAY BACK" and about 45 seconds later timmy was scorching down the left flank

Works fine for Everton with Baines. He even takes the corners on the right.

Beckerman as the shield allowed both Jones and Bradley to get forward, and press, which their athleticism allows them to do.

plus it let our fullbacks play almost like wingbacks. jones sliding left a lot helped when DMB made runs (it was really cool to see how well they communicated, b/c both like to make runs). that cameron-johnson right side is perfect for it also (beckerman just slides to CB basically and cameron plays his natural RB)

it's a really fricked up formation on the left, but as long as DMB/Jones communicate and one stays back, it is a very interesting formation. i don't even know what the fricking formation is, b/c so many people were covering so many different areas of the field. like the "LM" area...clint, jones, jozy, and DMB were all playing that role interchangeably without much delay/issue

i never thought i'd be a fan of a lineup with KB in it, but i am now. it's more the position than the player (lord i wish we had a true dedicated DM worth a shite these days), but he does it well enough (For now, at least. i worry about an athletic team that is smarter in it's pressing, but it is what it is. that dedicated DM really opens up 4 other positions (LB, RB, and both CMs)

i really wish fab could play a mid role, as he sometimes gets caught upfield in no man's land, which opens up the counter

clint is truly pissing me the frick off after these 3 games. lazy, disinterested, and trying to frick off with fancy moves when he gets the ball. he's also turning into a black hole (to further the aforementioned fancy dribbling)

zusi looked terrible today and has been mediocre at best recently. he does not fit in the diamond-esque formations we're trotting out. he needs more midfielders in the middle of the field. his only "plus" is his crossing ability, which is being neutered by the formation allowing teams to press him on the sideline more and his lack of speed.

bedoya was really good. provided service, speed, etc. also, he provided good corner-crosses (frick brad davis)

also, once again, Jones was good. that's 3 in a row, imho

I like everything you said until the Bedoya thing. I honestly sorta thought Bedoya looked like complete shite. He had a nice little through ball which created our first goal, that was very nice, I'll give him that. I don't mind him though because he tracks back on D whenever Fabian makes really far runs.

Also, Dempsey has been trying wayyyyy too many fancy flicks and dribbles. When they work they're awesome...when they don't, all it does is squander in an opportunity in the opponent's third. I will say in his defense, he looks very into the game until the last 15-20 mins when we have been up 2-0, and I can't blame him. I don't want him to put his body on the line up 2-0 in the 85th min in a friendly against Nigeria. He will be revved up when the WC rolls around

i don't get why people are hating bedoya. the outside mids in this formation don't really get a good chance to do much. they're support for our "wingbacks" who have a limited ability to invert towards goal. this is why zusi has been really mediocre. if we want to use fab as a defender who pushes up AND 2 strikers, then our RMs options will be limited. i like bedoya for that more than zusi by a mile

I think its clear Wondo replaces Jozy. I think Bacon would likely replace Dempsey if it happened during the middle of the game.

They're hating on Bedoya because he missed some wide open passes that completely stopped attacks. I nowhere said Zusi was better, and I credited Bedoya because of his defensive abilities and skills, but his attacking yesterday outside of his pass to Fab which created the goal was downright poor. Just like Beasly, he is going to play because he is best suited for the position...doesn't mean he is the best player.
