Crawfish boil with shrimp?

Ladies and gents, I boil crawfish all the time but never with shrimp. Can I add shrimp? Seems like after the crawfish are just soaking is all it would take for shrimp. Any help advice/tips would be greatly appreciated.

Why? You don't like the taste of shrimp?

I have done shrimp by themselves in crawfish boil before. I like them.

After you'd boiled the crawfish?

No I did crab boil in a pot on the stove with Shrimp. The taste was good, so I'd assume the taste would be good in the crawfish, but I don't know about timing. Shrimp are my arch nemesis when it comes to properly cooking. I always overcook those suckers.

Just remember, no one ever bitched the Shrimp were undercooked.

Okay. I think the OP is talking about chunking good shrimp into his crawfish for the soak.

Yes, right when your crawfish are about to boil, throw in the shrimp. proceed as normal unless you boil your crawfish for 10 minutes or something dumb like that

Thanks for the reply. I will give it a shot. I've heard of throwing them in right after they are finished boiling and letting them soak. Just wasn't sure on the timing.

If you are doing it the way you described (during the soak), I would suggest 10-15 minutes. Check them every 5 minutes to see if they are cooked and if the shells are starting to stick (which usually means they are overcooked).

sure, just toss them in after you've turned off the heat on the crawfish for the soak. check them every few minutes to make sure they don't get overcooked.

Once you soak your crawfish just put the shrimp in their own mesh bag and let them boil for 5-8 minutes. Simple.
