with its $895,000 price tag, which could set some Channel records if its fetches its asking price. In 2011, the 3,715-square-foot dwelling was scooped up by local interior designer Leland vanDeventer, no stranger to historic renos, for $186,500

You are wondering if rapes could happen there, aren't you?

No way that house gets $895k.
There are more attractive houses in better locations for that price. shite you could prob get one in or very close to the park for that.
I say that house gets closer to $650k

New Orleans is becoming an expensive city. Extremely high home prices and no real free education option. I loved the city but it was the main reason I left now that I'm wanting to start a family. New Orleans is dying for an actual thriving suburb

i often wonder how new Orleans has 100's of houses over $1M. is it family $$$$, or do these young people generate that kinda jack.

Looks like some serious renovating.

yeah reno's aren't cheap, they'll probably be lucky to make a bill on that one.

combo of both. there is a lot of new money coming into New Orleans with the tech "boom" and the movie industry. there are also a lot of people that see new orleans as a great place to have a second home. i know a few people that live in nyc that bought places in new orleans. they dropped $500k+ cash on places without blinking.

You also have to deal with the historic neighborhood associations, especially in the LGD and Irish Channel. Major PITA

people like cool old houses and charm, so as long as they aren't getting murdered people will continue to gentrify these areas.

This is exactly what happened down to the number with the rental I just moved out of (I bought here).
Some Tulane educated Dr. Who works in Birmingham i think Paid 500k straight cash.

That house looks awesome. But, New Orleans sucks a high hard one.

Sorry you can't afford to live here. There is always New Orleans east though

Hell, I can't find a 2 bedroom in a decent location in NYC for 500k.

The comments on the article say that the house sold within a week. I doubt they'd come off of asking 250k after only a week.

Not only can't you do that, this property has two units, four BRs, 4 baths, and the biggest back yard I've ever seen in this city.
When is the last time you saw grass not in central park?
