Nachos are a great cheap meal.
My go to is pork chops from Sam Club with asparagus. Both sautéed with balsamic vinegar. My crowds are typically older though so it's $20 for about 12 good sized chops and $8 for asparagus. Serves 12 for <$3.00/person even when you factor in seasoning and the balsamic vinegar.

I forgot about the chips. They cost 5 dollars for two bags.
The meat (ground round/ground pork) a pound each was ~$9.00
