For those who say impeaching a lame duck president is pointless...

"The Obama administration, as part of an accelerated push toward anendgame in Afghanistan, last month reached a tentative accord with Taliban negotiators that would have included the transfer of five Afghans from U.S. detention at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, and the Taliban’s public renunciation of international terrorism.
The deal called for the prisoners to be sent to house arrest in Qatar, where the Taliban planned to open an office, and additional actions by both sides, according to U.S. and European officials who would discuss the sensitive negotiations only on the condition of anonymity. Until now, no Guantanamo detainees have left the prison as bargaining chips in a larger deal."
"Agreement initially bogged down as U.S. lawyers expressed concern over the details, including restrictions Congress has placed on the transfer of any prisoners from Guantanamo — let alone Taliban members. The United States refused to release the detainees and neither side was happy about transferring them to an Afghan prison. Qatar, which had already agreed to host a Taliban office, said it would supervise them under house arrest."

Now Congress can't stop it and it appears Obama admin didn't even give them 30 days notice as they were supposed to.

We got a kid back home after too long. And the people we released will never again be out of reach.
Rejoice, boys. Today is a good day.

A good thing. But not at what it cost us.

There is zero reason for this basis of thought.

Zero reason according to you?

Is it insanity that people think the president has to do anything? The only way to stop a president is the threat of impeachment. And we know that isn't happening.

What's your basis then?
Obama may as well have went to Ground Zero and spit on the remains of those who died that September day, with the release of those savages.

You think the CIA is actually competent?

There is none when it comes to the group in charge.
Think about it. People with DIRECT ties to the attack on 9/11, and the cause of the last 14 yrs of military action, have just been released by this Administration.

Actually I know CIA is competent. But what do they have to do with the issue in question.

It is hard to argue about getting one of ours back. But, this is a step in the wrong direction. However, I doubt anyone is surprised that the current administration would do something to aid our enemies.

We've traded POWs with governments responsible for 10s of thousands of US casualties. We traded with Germany, Russia, and N. Vietnam.

This would be like giving General Tôjô Hideki's 5 right hand men back, while still at war with Japan.
