Just went compared the old man's to my pretty expensive coon hunting light.
I'd say it's a hell of a deal even if it only lasts one year. With both on full power, it has about half the range of my light (which is pretty damned far) and is a good bit wider than mine. Not quite bright enough for running a boat IMO, but plenty good enough for coon hunting and general use. Should be a good tracking light assuming the battery life is respectable. I've hunted with lights that costed 5 or 6 times as much and weren't as good.

I noticed the beam wasn't as wide as my car light hard hat, as I had to turn my head more than normal to look around. But I agree it's a deal.
