Guys, its a puppy, and the guy we got it from said it won't get over 35 pounds. So let me repeat, the puppy, is not ripping anyonesface off. And yes it was free. I came on here to get tips on raising the dog right since I've never had one so it doesn't do everyone just said
I have one and it is by far the best dog i have had. The guy lied to you about the weight. They will reach 50-55 lbs. max when fully grown. Smart dogs that are loyal to their owners. Very hyper so start teaching your godson how to throw a ball well so the pup will wear out.

And people are telling you that youve made a mistake. When this child is 5 and the now puppy will be a 1.5 yr old pitbull, you'll look back on this and realize what an idiotic decision this was. The guy was blowing smoke up your arse if you think it will only be 35 lbs when fully grown. Would you give your own child a pitbull at 5 yrs old? Didnt think so.

Do you have any reason to believe otherwise?

Up until this became the choice dog for thugs, they were widely viewed as great family dogs. If raised correctly from a puppy the are excellent around children, but I understand why people feel otherwise.

these dogs are bred to be territorial and kill.
All dogs are territorial. And bred to kill do some research first. Yes they are good fighters, but that is not their original purpose

I would not trust the advice of a man who gives away put bull puppies for free to children.
All joking aside, that dog needs to be in a different home.

You're Godson's parents are ignorant and putting themselves, and most importantly their child at risk.
Also, it will kill any other pets he owns.

I'm not a troll, I just don't have time this morning to respond to every comment. I'm taking in both sides and trying to weed out the internet crazies from the people with actual advice and real concern because, like I said, I've never owned an animal. This happened last night so I really havent done any research on the subject and, qadmittedly knowing I would catch some shite, came to the biggest and eeasiest fourm I had. Trying to base conversation for lunch with my buddy.

Although harsh worded, my comment should be taken strongly. They are not a bad breed in general. But, in the off chance the dog does decide to bite, it'll be a shite show.
And just remember, ALL DOGS CAN BITE AND TURN ON THEIR OWNERS. But are you willing to test this theory with a dog that will, the the least, maim. And possibly kill the child.

Not if it is around it all the time. Had a miniature dachshund around my AmStaff and they got along great. Dachshund passed away a few years ago from old age.

Having a pet is a long term commitment. It seems to me that he should have already done all his research before actually taking possession of the animal. Just for future reference fwiw. It isn't fair to the animal to just bail on it when things don't work out because you didn't think things through.

There are plenty of places that you could have gone to for actual intelligent advice, but you came here to troll and it is very obvious.

Thanks Bayou Brawl, most certainly will. Going to B&N to get this fool some literature on the subject. Seems like obedience, getting her socially around dogs, and getting her to bite just her toys are pretty key in the beginning.

Wow really dumb move. That being said you came to right place.......

Great dog. I have an Amstaff and he is the best dog. He adores my son. My son is 2 1/2.

i'm saying this harshly only cause you're an idiot. Bring the fricking dog back to the pos that gave it to you. Get a different breed dog. One that doesn't eat kids.
