Wanting a new set of irons and heard some good things about the Callaway Apex. Anybody here have these clubs or have hit them? Are they worth the price?

BTW, I don't have an established handicap anywhere. On a good day I can shoot a 78. On a bad day, 85.

You have a much smaller range than me. I can shoot 78 on a good day, but 105 on a bad day.

You'll get a lot of AP2 suggestions. They are great irons.

I'm playing Mizuno MP64s, and I love them.

get fitted and try a ton it is worth the extra money. Don't buy clubs just because some jabroni told you they good

Yep, I am similar in scoring, generally somewhere between 79-90 (with a few others mixed in )
I've had the AP2's for a few months now and I love them

If he is buying brand new clubs, he needs to get fitted no doubt. Most places will subtract the cost of the fitting from your new irons.

AP2's are great but they aren't gods gift to golf

I suggest going to the store and seeing what you like at address and hit a few of them

Have them check your length and lie angle while you're there

If a good day is 78 u need something like i25's. A players set but still very forgiving. S55's will be too much for u.

Man of many words. I like it.

Expected to. Been lurking for a minute or three. The look of the AP2's do nothing for me yet I'm sure they're good irons. They wouldn't have sold as well otherwise. Thx.

Def getting fitted. And you saying this site is full of jabronis?
Know a guy who plays Apex and raves about 'em. He's kind of a friend but we don't hang together. Played with him once though. Legit scratch handi so I have a feeling it almost doesn't matter which brand he hits (to an extent).

Gonna have to look those up.

While I know they have their place, I'm not a hybrid guy, per se. I have one and I like it ok but I get more enjoyment out of sticking a green with my 2 iron from 225. I'm kinda weird in that I like knowing that I can still hit a long iron.

Thanks for all the responses. And I'll read the review from Golf Werx too.

Access denied to your link because of where I work.

I live in South Louisiana. Frequently play Atchafalaya, Ellendale, La Tour, TPC Louisiana. Even got to play U-club my last time in. Pretty sweet. Clayton was a cool dude.

Croacka just means HE can't hit them.

AP2s are the business! However, I do agree with going get fitted. Then, go buy them on eBAY. I never would have thought that I would be playing Wilsons, but I smashed them during a fitting.

I get what you're saying but without seeing my ball striking (or the lack thereof), how can you come to that conclusion? I hit a set of blades at a demo day about 3 years ago just for the hell of it and liked them. Just wasn't in the market for new irons then.

Like most of us, short game is holding me back. That and eliminating the one blow up hole per round where I'll miss a fairway then try a Bubba Watson-type shot.

Right. It could be your putting sucks. Or some other aspect.

Hitting an s55 isn't as bad as a pure blade. Janky's are sweet.
