Donald Sterling is reportedly laughing his arse off all the way to the bank.
Several other NBA owners have been reported taping racist statements for public release.

Former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer has reportedly won the bidding to buy the Los Angeles Clippers, submitting an NBA-record-setting offer of $2 billion to purchase the team from owners Donald and Shelly Sterling, according to James Rainey of the Los Angeles Times:
Ballmer, who was chief executive of Microsoft for 14 years, was chosen over competitors that included Los Angeles-based investors Tony Ressler and Steve Karsh and a group that included David Geffen and executives from the Guggenheim Group, the Chicago-based owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers.
A person with knowledge of the negotiations said the Geffen group bid $1.6 billion and Ressler bid $1.2 billion.
The sale price is almost four times the highest previous NBA franchise sale price — the $550 million paid earlier this month for the Milwaukee Bucks. It is second only to the Dodgers 2012 sale for $2.1 billion as the highest price for any sports team in North America.

No one is buying the clippers for the price of the Knicks and Lakers combined.

I posted the same news on the other thread at the exact same time.

I was too. I wanted to see if Lebron James would give up millions since he ran his big mouth.
Donald Sterling comes out the big winner if this actually happens.

Isn't he the guy that tried to buy the Kings and move them to Seattle?

No, because the players that said they were going to walk are assholes.
AAWWW! Has 'The Man' been oppressing those poor, pitiful, pampered multi-millionaires?

That's a lot to own a modern day plantation

Every time I see that, I realize that I forgot how ridiculous she is.

I guarantee he'd rather still own the team and go to games.

He would have sold the team without this flap for a $2 billion.

He's already a billionaire and 80 yrs old, he'd definitely prefer to remain the owner.
From the information I've read balmier is looking at a 15 - 20+ yr pay out. Unless there is some tremendous upside that's not a good deal on the buy side. But like sterling balmer is a billionaire and I don't think it's about investment; it's about buying something you just want because it's fun and you can afford it.

I hope he moves the team to Seattle. This could be good for all. Seattle gets a team and Los Angeles becomes a one basketball team town which makes sense.
