That's true of Federal DOT and USCG physicals too now. Docs have more diagnostic tools and the science and scope of physicals has changed. The '98 Mother's Day bus crash in NOLA was a watershed event in operator medical inspection for all disciplines in the US. Things have changed....

Stevie Ray wasn't feeling sick. He was in great spirits. He was talking to Chris Layton right before he went to get on the copter and told him he wanted to get back to call his girlfriend Janna.

that's just what his brother said(who was on stage that night, I wasn't there,) hopefully he wasn't already planning new song material

Guidelines for FAA medical exams.

The only medical test required today for the FAA 1st medical certificate is a EKG after age 35, age 40 for 2nd and 3rd class. Otherwise is a simple physical, you can pass with a blood pressure of 155/90, which would cause most docs to put a patient on medication.

for 1st class(good for 6 mos.,) it's an EKG(dat linked straight to the fuz in OKC, every other time after 40, wasn't a req. back then)

that's about as lenient as it gets, almost all other parameters, these days are a little more strict than for "normal" people
ETA: now if you have your own civilian Doc in your pocket(and that's the way to go,) it's a different story

Of this, I am aware. I just have a particular fondness of the guy and most of his works, and the sound he (and his counterpart) got out of a guitar. I've been meaning to find the time to get into AJ Croce (his son)'s stuff. I've only heard a few of his songs. They're pretty good. Anyone reading this, if that hasn't been mentioned already, should check it out.
Also, I think his best songs were either "I'll have to say I love you in a song" or "New York's Not My Home"

I hear you, those two really were good guitar players, and even though I'm bent a little more to the rock side, I love to listen to the albums, yep still have a turntable. Love to listen to the guitar work on James Taylor stuff too. Don't see anymore of these type of talents coming before I check out.
