PM may have a point. Their top 4 hitters are all lefthanded, and the next 2 are switch hitters. So hypothetically Nola could face 6+ lefties in the lineup. I know that he is a great pitcher, but what I'd like to know is the switch hitter RH/LH splits, as well as a Poche's BA against vs LH. If he totally dominates LH, then it may be the right move.
On the other hand, HOU could not even win. Both teams look to have solid ace's.
Did LSU have the choice to play the early game? Maybe they should have waited and played the night game if that was an option.

Think they had to pick wen to play day/night before the regionals were announced

yes they had the option and PM likes the 2pm game. Gave several reasons.
-knows exact time of game. Night game could not start on time due to first game going long (obviously rain delays are a caveat but you cant control the weather).
-likes to be able to scout the other teams after he's already played. said if they had a night game the coaches would have their mind on the game that night moreso than on the game they're watching.

only 1 seeds playing early are LSU and Virginia...
as for SLU throwing their ace against LSU, if he throws anyone else and saves the ace for Houston/Bryant, he's not trying to win the regional. he's merely playing for 2nd place which is the same as 4th here
the only way Southeastern wins the regional is if they beat LSU in game 1 with their ace and Houston eliminates the Tigers, bc Bryant most certainly can't and SLU's chances decrease the further down the rotation they go
the most certain way for LSU to win the regional is Poche, Nola, Bouman. CPM doesn't want to tip his cards though

I can't find this years stats on Nola, but last year LH hit .187 (35-187) against him and RH hit .188 (48-255) against him.
