I hope you are removing the glands in the arm pits before cooking.

I've been eating squirrel for many a moon, and I have to admit that I've never heard of anything to do with glands on a squirrel.

Any tips / insights?

Couple more and you'll have enough for a squirrel skin hat. For real though, what do you do with the hides?

Also,

We always targeted cat squirrels and stayed away from the foxes just because they were tougher. I've never heard about a gland that should be removed.

I bet I have skinned a thousand squirrels in my day and I have never heard of a gland on a squirrel.

When I was a kid, my dad and his brothers used to have competitions to see how many squirrels they could kill in a season. The winner was always over 300. But that was when the woods were actually hardwoods.

Lymph nodes under the armpits can be enlarged especially pending diet on bigger fox squirrels. NOT good eats. I pull 'em.

btw.....you are raising those kids right!

They have glands in the neck, so cut it at the shoulders. Spread the leg outward, pass a knife to open it more. The gland is a dark tan color.

All tree rats have them in the same place.
