re: Is there a legitimate chance that Jurgen leaves Donovan off the final 23?

I'm talking about this cycle and players who he has really gone after
Michael Bradley and Clint Dempsey aren't going to fly to the World Cup and frick around for 270 minutes. He attempted to encourage both of them to play at the highest level possible. They both moved back to MLS. Clearly, not everyone buys into his motivational strategies.
You could probably question Landon Donovan's motivation at times, but he's a different kind of dude, and I'm not sure that singling out a guy who fricked off to Cambodia a year and a half ago because he was tired of the pressure of professional soccer is a great strategy

I had the red jersey with the sash for Donovan, but the letters peeled, so Nike refunded me $70.
My home Altidore shirt did the same thing. It's the only shirt I've ever had peel. Got the sweet arse Bradley away this year.
Back on topic, I really think the more I read, the more chance Landon gets left. Everyday another news site is saying it's possible. I went back and watched the documentary on ESPN again and Landon said he can't go hard everyday, that his body can't take it. Then you see quotes about players saying you have to go hard everyday. IMO, he goes but doesn't start. We shall see.

A bump - just for everyone to reflect on their opinions.

If he doesn't put Donovan on the final 23, and the US doesn't make it out of the group, he should be fired on the spot for his arrogance.

This is it, right here.
I feel like Jurgen was pissed that Donovan didn't go hard, and instead of going harder, Donovan gave Jurgen excuses.
Jurgen said to himself, "If he can't work hard, I don't want him."

This isn't Junior Varsity tryouts. That's dumb as frick.

Not putting Landon in the 11 is a fireable offense IMO.

I'm talking a ceremonial 90 minutes of silence where I'm just sitting on my coach staring at a blank tv crying ever so slightly.
Upon completions of the game(s) I will resume my message board, twitter, Facebook bitching at levels that I have never reached before. I might even attempt to get a #firejurgen type of thing trending.
I will also eat Mexican food that night AND cheer for them in their next game

I bought a Donovan jersey for this world cup. If he is left off I quit.

I can only imagine how some of the guys on this board would react to Robert Prosinecki coming onto the practice field 20 minutes late, then walking right off it to smoke a Marlboro red.
We don't want Prosinecki. Chad Deering runs hard!
This idiotic line of thinking was a blessing for the US as Mexico has basically alienated the singular talent of their generation.

I think a more known player to our board would be us not wanting Berbatov because he is lazy.

Well with the competition that we are up against, might as well be.
We need to be fit and if Landy can't give it then he wasn't selected. We aren't going to be the most talented or skilled but we are gunna be fit.

Donovan doesn't have to play 90 minutes every game. He's in shape enough to play off the bench every game. The fitness excuse is just some bullshite. This is the fricking World Cup, not the Cajun Cup.

really? i got a half chicken, half steak burrito. those dumb mother frickers give you full scoops of both and then charge the same as a steak burrito. #dope

Smart as shite. I just went steak burrito and they were far from generous on the amounts. Thought they forget the cheese at one point.

Pretty sure I nailed the reasons for Landon's exclusion on page 2.

After spacing out on the face of Jesus Navas, I read your post.
I'd have this as a rebuttal. The Bosnia comeback was against their team after some substitutions on both ends. It didn't really mirror a competitive game. The Mexico game is a better argument, as the team certainly played some very nice attacking soccer withuot him in the first half. However, Donovan isn't a super ball dominant player (unless we are counting set pieces, where he is generally quite good anyway).
For me, the most interesting takeaway from that game was how good Bradley looked when Beckerman stood back.
