There is no doubt the BR metro is in an expansion mode when it comes to business. That's the metro. There is no reason to think a city of St George would not share in that growth. Key word is share.

Absolutely. St. George is a huge selling point for Baton Rouge.

But, what will happen is, as economic growth happens in BR, those who work for those companies will continue to migrate to St. George and other areas to live for the same reasons it's happening today.

That's not what you were debating me on. This was about business growth. Businesses have shown a desire to locate to BR without SG and they will continue to. Yes, the entire region benefits from that. The point is, however, that SG isn't going to take business away from BR.

I stand here today as a uniter not as a divider
That is quite impressive. According to this map LINK, prior to the recent annexations in response to the St. George incorporation drive, Baton Rouge had annexed 3 parcels since 2000. The first was on 5/24/2000, and it was the eastern end of Richards Dr. The annexed properties appear to be about 7 large private residences. The next annexation was on 2/25/2004, and it consisted of one or two properties at the northeast corner of Essen Ln. and One Calais Ave. And the third was on 5/26/2010. An area between Nicholson Dr. and Burbank Dr., south of LSU, and containing all of the apartments around Ben Hur Rd.

Pretty exclusive club that the recently annexed properties joined under the self-proclaimed uniter Kip Holden. For the prior 13+ years very few property owners petitioned for annexation, only one group while Kip Holden has been Mayor-President, and now we have more property owners do so in a single month. According to some, it was merely the possibility of being incorporated into St. George that caused only the minimum number of property owners necessary to capture the largest sources of tax revenue to petition for annexation. The necessary property owners did not need any inducements to simultaneously arrive at the conclusion that they would benefit from annexation. And it isn't the least bit curious that not a single other nearby property owner had the same spontaneous reaction, or perceived the necessary benefits of petitioning for annexation.

You just aren't keeping up.

I was saying that St. George (if it happens) is absolutely going to take business/compete with Baton Rouge for retail business. I do not expect St. George to compete with Baton Rouge, in large part, from a downtown city center standpoint.

Given the shady characters that are behind the St. George incorporation I fully expect them to use public funds to subsidize select businesses that compete with other businesses in Baton Rouge and surrounding parishes.

It'll be fun times for us political debaters.

That would be a smart move given today's events.

Well that's the last time I shop at that place. Taking my dollars to Ascension at all times if possible.

Enjoy your beef jerky from Cabella's.

How am I not keeping up? You're not making even decent arguments here lol. SG is not going to threat or harm BR in retail.

Whatever, tired of arguing over something that will never even happen.
