Why? They're just looking to reduce their tax burden.

The BRGH doesn't pay property taxes and their sales tax is the same regardless.

The Mall does pay property tax and by requesting annexation their property taxes increased. Sales taxes stayed the same of course.

Right. They know they will be paying more if in St George, thus they are looking to reduce their tax burden. At the very least it's a hedge.

I'm guessing they had some tax break renewals coming up that only BR could give. SG doesn't exist yet so they are in no position to make any promises.

Baton Rouge is going to file a suit against themselves?

I don't know the legal mumbo jumbo, but nothing prevents the st.George effort from moving forward. BR, at some point we can assume, will challenge the st.George incorporation effort as it moves forward with what it(still) has a legal right to do.

The Mall will pay more in the city than outside the city, but they will be comfortable in knowing the city won't raise their taxes more. At least that's what thd Together crowd and Daniels is pushing.

Dude, you're incoherent again. Please proofread your posts and correct them before you click on 'submit', especially when there are entire words missing from your sentences.

So, "Marcelle said......WHAT"?

They also will pay less in fire insurance, which for huge facilities likes these, ends up being a lot of money.

And I don't think the Metro Council would be the only one to have standing to challenge the petition. I believe the Secretary of State would have the authority to determine the validity himself. Anyone who could show a substantial financial interest in the incorporation could have standing as well.

So when Lionel Rainey, The Third, said the following 8 days ago, he didn't know what he was talking about?

“It would change the boundaries of the city of St. George and immediately stop the process,” St. George spokesman Lionel Rainey said.

Is Siegen Marketplace next? Or is that already within the city of BR by some odd twist of the map?

The fire insurance thing is quite complicated as the mall owners own properties all over the nation and they buy insurance a lot differently than homeowners do.

Do you have some information showing how much GGP will save on insurance or are you just guessing?

No, Perkins Rowe and the shopping center at the corner of Perkins Road and Bluebonnet where the Matherne's grocery store is are most likely the two next retail areas to petition for annexation.
