Iraq? Afghanistan?

Dumb game to play, but have you personally seen people go from unemployed and broke to millionaires in a year off one bloated gov contract? I have.

Yes it is

Are you going to tow the party line and suggest that BHO is not paying back his backers, like the rest of the POTUS' have done?

Don't knight the MFER if he is no different than the rest of them.

Oh, yeah we are still there. What's your point? Kinda like Gitmo, empty promises.

I hate the Republicans aw much as the Democrats.

What's your point? You are the one that stated the BHO was cleaning things up.

That's just a damn lie.

I think it is better than it was under Bush as far as bloated government contracts. That was and is my only point.

Oh, and the fact people who just tow party lines are stupid. Like captain asshat or whatever.

As ususal, one of your posts sounds like bullshite. I worked for a company that adminstered medical benefits for three states. It is a highly competitive market and the call centers were always understaffed.

LOL. As someone who worked for a federal government contractor in an environment like this, and someone who has represented hundreds of federal employees, the standards are ridiculously low. I've seen situations where there were 50 federal employees processing applications that a semi-intelligent person could do in 15 minutes. They'd do 5-6 a day, and anyone who did more than 10 would feel the ire of their fellow employees.

You could eliminate half of the federal workforce and not sense a thing, especially in the more worthless agencies like DHS, DOL, SSA, etc.

This was an open bid contract and the linked story is a bit misleading in stating this was a contract worth $1.2 billion. It's potential is worth that much.

quote:

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services has awarded Contract HHSM-500-2013-00118C to Serco Inc. for Eligibility Support services. Award was made to Serco Inc. through a full and open competition and will support the Federally-facilitated Marketplace and State-based Marketplaces for the Eligibility Support tasks under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010. The tasks in the associated Statement of Work include the intake, routing, review, and troubleshooting of applications submitted for enrollment into a Qualified Health Plan and for insurance affordability programs including, but not limited to, Advance Payment of Premium Tax Credits, Cost-Sharing Reductions, Medicaid, Children's Health Insurance Program, and the Basic Health Program (where applicable), beginning on October 1, 2013.

This contract was awarded as a Cost-Plus-Fixed-Fee type contract with a 12-month base period and four (4) 12-month option periods. The total potential contract value, including all option periods and optional tasks, is $1,248,871,357. The effective date of the contract is July 1, 2013.

It's also for more than just Obamacare but for CMS run programs. And that's just the experience of one service center.

However, if I were making a bet on this, I'd wager heavy that this is at least somewhat true across the board. In my experience, the only thing more wasteful than government programs are corporations taking advantage of government programs. Defense contractors are perfect examples.

Fortunately for the taxpayer, I've seen the contract and it would make the ACA look like Dr. Seuss. Ridiculously long with amendments but also many many many outs for the govt. And the first year is almost up. If the story is true, then exercise the out options. Here's the contract with it's many amendments LINK

It's a stretch to say Obama was paying back his backers with Serco. Their PAC spent $141,000 in 2012 with 65% going to Republicans. And they've favored the GOP every year, At least their PAC has

So this contract wasn't like the one a friend Michelle Obama 's company got for hundreds of billions to put out a horrible computer program for the ACA? That one was a closed bid right?

This is the type of spin that makes me sick. You want to make it a R vs D scenario.

They are all fricking crooks. The company had a 1.2B gross revenue. This ONE contract doubled their their gross revenue. 90% of thier revenue is from govt contracts. They are under investigation in the UK for fraud. How in the hell is this not discovered in setting up a prefered vendor account?

General Dynamics in Hattiesburg with almost 1200 employees got a piece of this pie. Call center sprung up overnight. Our state government pays for each computer at the worksite.

Other government contractors with something similar are Lookheed Martin in Clinton and Xerox in Ridgeland.
