the best is when the cops come up with these 'cash for guns' programs where they buy guns from people then smash them.
quote:should float that idea to the fark board
've always wanted a FARK of obama at the end of a smith-and-wesson assembly line paying for each gun as it rolls off the belt and smashing it with a hammer..then paying them for the next one..and smashing it with a hammer.

Is this all gang related/drug related stuff or what?
Most of the gun violence in Chicago is gang related. About 10 years ago Chicago closed a bunch of their public housing. Partly because private investment wanted the property, and partly because of all the crime at them. What they failed to realize is each housing complex was controlled by a particular gang, and when they started re-assigning residents to different complexes, a lot of rival gangs were housed in the same complexes. It has created a massive problem, and it's sad to see the gun rights folks continually use Chicago as an example of failed gun control without realizing the actual problem.

That's the whole point...gun laws don't fix the "actual" problem. They only disarm law abiding citizens who are in no way a danger to other law abiding citizens.

clearly the only solution is to create laws that affect non gang members.

Perhaps, but doesn't Chicago only ban semi-automatic rifles and large magazines? I'm willing to bet the majority of these gun crimes are committed with handguns. Plus the citywide ban on firearms sales was ruled unconstitutional, so it's really not the gun control utopia(whatever that actually is) it's portrayed to be.

Nailed it.

Geesh. You have totally let the point of the thread blow over your head.

You must have jumped for joy when you heard that.
We know you, Dan Gross, Michael Bloomberg, Shannon Watts, Josh Sugarmann, and Robyn Thomas started dusting off the dancing shoes. Just a slow reel this time though.

Ah yes you figured out the puzzle, handguns are still legal, THAT'S why they're shooting people.

I'll wait patiently and read your answer to the Chiicago gun violence problem.

Essentially, they don't take any gunshot victims anymore because they cannot afford it. The people who get shot do not ever pay bills, so they are losing money and considering closing the hospitals. Only one hospital in the city accepts gunshot victims now.
Who is paying for the hospital stays? I assume taxpayers are. How do the doctors get paid?
The justification used for gun control is, "See...guns are bad. They kill people every day. We need to get them off of the streets". Doesn't matter who has the guns or how they are obtained, it is just the fact that guns are going around, pointing themselves at people, and pulling their own triggers. I even saw something once about the police commissioner strongly professing gun bans because he wouldn't be able to control the city if they weren't

The liberals love to be the party of science and intelligence but they hate statistics. There are certain neighborhoods in this country where violent crime happens driving up our gun crime numbers. Why don't they focus on them? Instead they focus on the NRA.
Laughable.
Laughable.

I watched it as well. I then watched a bunch of people explain that it is the fault of the white man basically that only one hospital will take them. Apparently, everyone should have to pay more to fund these hospitals so that they can get filled with criminals who got shot by other criminals.
Hey Spider, go watch that documentary from Vice and tell me if you see a common trend.
Thanks, I'll be waiting.
