At least 15 people, including a 16-year-old boy, were wounded in shootings across Chicago Thursday afternoon through Friday morning, according to authorities.

Eight of the victims were shot in the Calumet police district on the Far South Side and others were shot as far north as Touhy Avenue 30 miles away.

If only we had actual gun control...this wouldnt happen!

More laws are clearly the answer...the current laws arent law enough!

Who is paying for the hospital stays? I assume taxpayers are. How do the doctors get paid?

Sounds like Chicago does a terrible job of gun control. I guess you want to see them do better?

Is this all gang related/drug related stuff or what? Thinning of the herd at it's finest.

If only they had more guns, they would have been wounded less.

Why don't people get it? The solution to guns is guns!

Meanwhile, many miles away from Chicago...

quote:

MILLSTADT, ILL. — A southwestern Illinois man who shot and killed an apparent intruder at his frequently burglarized rural home is unlikely to face charges, sheriff's officials said while cautioning that the investigation is still in progress.

The 72-year-old homeowner shot the alleged intruder Thursday afternoon near Millstadt just southeast of St. Louis, moments after reporting in a 911 call that he heard glass breaking. Sheriff's deputies who responded found the 62-year-old suspect dead in the homeowner's driveway, the Belleville News-Democrat (https://bit.ly/1ss9hy6 ) reported Friday.

St. Clair County Sheriff Rick Watson said it was the third time the man's house had been burglarized, and that the homeowner was "pretty broke up" about fatally shooting the apparent stranger.

"He didn't know if he hit him or not. When he found out the guy was deceased it broke him up," Watson said. "It's just an unfortunate incident."

State law permits using deadly force against an intruder as long as the intruder violently breaks into the home and the homeowner believes the use of force will prevent an assault or a felony.

Sheriff's Capt. Scott Weymouth says the investigation is still going on, but it's unlikely charges will be filed.

It looks like Millstadt just became one less criminal safer

Well apparently it's not gun laws. So what would you have us do? Make laws for the sake of making laws?

15 wounded and nobody killed? Sounds like the thugs need some target practice.

And find the most expensive way to do it, it's the progressive thing to do.

Ok, Tuba, here's your chance. Tell us how we can solve the problem of gun violence in Chicago.

Yeah, I'm sure we'll get the argument that as long as people in Louisiana can exercise their constitutional rights, babies in Chicago will continue to be slaughtered.

the best is when the cops come up with these 'cash for guns' programs where they buy guns from people then smash them.

i've always wanted a FARK of obama at the end of a smith-and-wesson assembly line paying for each gun as it rolls off the belt and smashing it with a hammer..then paying them for the next one..and smashing it with a hammer.

too bad my paint skills suck.

the sad part is I have seen liberals argue that it is the surrounding area's fault that chicago has a gun problem.
