I've come to appreciate the tenacity of them. Bastards don't let my speedcrawl get deep enough for the bass before they pick it up

Once the bass and perch spawn is over, you can catch at least one of these things by every large cypress in Spring Bayou.

I would always just call that a perch but I see where I was wrong. To me it was pretty much either perch, white perch(sac-a-lait), bass or catfish. That was it.

If you are catching a bunch of them in a pond, time to burn the pond down and start over.

A decent sized one on an ultralight is kind of fun.

You're probably just too badass, but people all over the world enjoy catching all kinds of fish on all kinds of tackle.

I love catching some big goggle eye on bass tackle.
There was a day in the basin a few years back we caught 70 big arse goggle eye and somewhere around 50 13.5-13.75" throwback bass (couldn't find one 14") on the same stretch of canal, all on brush hogs. Got hit every cast, what you caught depended on how close to the bank you were. Twas a good day

I'll sit there all day with an ultralight and tiny brush hogs with a 1/16oz bullet weight, that shite's a blast. Small bass too.
