I would keep strong out of necessity and then, when time allowed, absolutely fall apart
My heart breaks reading some of these recounts

Wow...I had no idea! Your situation is obviously one that nobody would ever want but at least you can still type and stuff like that due to technology. Technology and medicine will only get better and better so stay strong, life for you should only get easier!

Nothing worse than losing one of your kids...very sad.
For me, in Nam, I was corpsman (medic for you army dudes) with a Marine infantry platoon. When a Marine hollered "corpsman up!!!!!!" my heart was in my throat...I'll spare you the details.

Wow... some serious life changing events on this tread.
On a lighter note... During med school, I was f'ing around with this nurse. Got this call from her a few weeks later that she missed her period...
Fortunately, false alarm...![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/Iconcheers.gif)

Being awakened one October morning to the sound of my husband telling me our son was in a fatal accident and that he was killed. Nothing really fazes me any more.

Everyday watching my kid get weaker. And wondering what is worse, the possibility of eventually losing him or having to watch him slip away first?
Damn this thread.

Jesus, how the hell did that all go down?
It was a couple false positives during the time from Thanksgiving to Christmas. Made it really tough to get appointments with specialists so I had to ride it out until after NYE.
Pretty rough but my grandfather told me he still loved me even though I was gay. I'm not but he was still convinced that was the main way people got HIV.

Tree across legs, open displaced fx to lt talus, fx to right foot. Reached into my boot, felt fibula, and hand came back bloody, that was the "oh shite, this is bad" moment
That wasn't mentally traumatic for me, just trauma to the body. Most traumatic thing was probably watching a dude my age in ICU die
