I agree. Just because the guy said some really messed up crap does not make it illegal or allow the governing body to take his money. I do not agree with anything he said, but removing him from ownership would be illegal, and I would assume Sterling would take legal action if the NBA did that. Ultimately, he did still buy the team and risk his money when he purchased the team. Now he is a documented racist a-hole, which makes me wonder why people have supported the team this long, but nobody can tell him how to invest his money. His remarks were senile and pretty damn terrible but this is still America and not Communist (insert country name), or so I thought.

Where did I say it was? I find Sharpton's and Jackson's shtick deplorable.

I hear ya. It would be impossible to sink the team value back down to 12 million, but to let him go out with its current selling price is just allowing him to win. Hit him in the only place he cares about... His wallet.

And yes, people are overreacting terribly to this. If you dont like what this man said, then dont fricking listen, dont watch Clippers games, and dont buy his product. No one is forcing you to listen to the stupid tape
Which is exactly why sponsorships are being pulled and the NBA wants him gone.

Probably another race issue. In fairness though, DS deserves every bit of criticism he gets. Dude is a moron.

It's going to be Michael Sam not being drafted high enough in the NFL draft and how 31 teams in the NFL are closet bigots/homophobes for not picking him in the early rounds

So what should the black players do, forfeit their pay and quit there dream of playing in the NBA? He should be given the chance to sell the team and ride off into the sunset, and do whatever he wants. His comments affect more than just himself.

Then those same people that say "he can say what he wants" are going to say that the NBA has no right to make him sell his team. Basically he can say whatever he wants and the league just has to take it because this is America, people can say what they want, and what right do they have to force him out, right?
Yeah, all of that "just ignore him and he'll go away" is elementary school shite. Sometimes you have to punch the jerk right in his face before he gets it.
When you're an NBA owner, you have certain responsibilities to uphold. People comparing Sterling to a normal Joe Blow citizen that can say what he wants without repercussions are at best ignorant and at worst disingenuous.

But there are actually people calling for his job and insisting he steps down from ownership. That is pure bullshite. He can say w/e the hell he wants and you can either choose to listen and let it get your panties in a wad, or just say "meh" and move on
Just because you can say whatever you want doesn't mean there aren't consequences.

Ya this is stupid. Being a racist means you think certain races are inferior, not that every single member of that race is inferior.

He has jack shite to uphold. He is an entrepreneur. I dont understand why someone that doesnt want to be associated with black people would also want to own an NBA franchise, but hey money is power, and power is addictive. Im all for punching the bully in the face as well. This isnt the same type of case. If you dont like what he's saying, then dont watch Clippers games. If his players dont like him, then they can quit. No one is forcing them to play basketball for a living. Who in the hell plays for an owner anyway, in any professional sport at that? You think the Cowboys play to please Jerry Jones and egomania? Those players could give two fricks about Jerry Jones. They care about a paycheck. Just like any black man playing for the Clippers does.

Sterling owns the Clippers. The players for the Clippers collect a paycheck from the Clippers. This is not that hard. The Clippers pay those men to play basketball.

So everyone has to suffer but this old piece of shite?
Seems like going the route that you suggested, NBA players lose their livelyhood but Sterling is still a billionaire. People drafted to the Clippers have to flip burgers because of principle? Yeah they sure showed him.
Yeah as an NBA owner he does have to uphold a certain standard of conduct, which I'm sure is outlined in the franchise agreement that he signed when he bought the team. You don't just buy a team then do whatever you want with it when the NBA has its name on it.
You're trying to approach this with an overly simplistic rationale when this is anything but a simple situation.

Why does this one man's opinion matter to anyone? Lots of people agree with him or feel the same about a different race. I don't agree or condone it, but his opinion means jack shite to me. He is a private citizen who happens to own a well known franchise. People can "vote with their wallet" by boycotting games or merchandise, but as a person not living in his city who does not care about his team, I could not care less about this one man's opinion. If this man's opinion ruins your day and you are not a fan of his team, then you need to get a life.

The players are suffering? The media is suffering? All because this man is an idiot racist? I feel so sorry for those players who are suffering. Im sure their feelings are hurt.
