Could someone recommend me a jewelry store in the batonrouge/NOLA area to buy an engagement ring.

Don't do this.

Im only looking to spend a few grand so I want to go somewhere I can get the most for my money.

That won't happen at the above.

Get her to tell you/show you pictures of what she likes.

ETA: I should have known.

You have no idea what kind of ring she likes? Yet you are just gonna pick one out?

Also I don't know anything about expensive jewelry or engagement ring styles.

Find out if she prefers yellow gold or white/platinum, at a minimum.

There was a nice setup at the corner of Choctaw & N. Acadian on Friday. 1998 gold Suburban with sweet rims. Barn doors open. Velvet table. They had some great deals.

That's where I'd go.

This part depends on the girl. Have her look at shite online and see if her design is simple or complex.

Time to learn. Bluenile.com is a good way to get basic education.

Other than that, good luck and congratulations.

KG is the man. He can build it, find it, or sell you used.

Oh and if you are close enough to her sisters or friends you may want to enlist their help.

After a few years of dating I found printed out pictures of settings and diamonds showing up around my house.

Spend some time researching them. My fiance spent about 8 months on it before he finally found all the diamonds for the ring, and it is absolutely perfect.

Also, I was totally surprised by the proposal and the ring, and I really appreciated that. But I know other girls that pick out their ring, go with the guy to buy it, and are just as happy. So it's really about what she wants.
