After a two-week trial that ended Tuesday -- Earth Day, coincidentally -- a Dallas jury awarded the Parr family $2.9 million for personal injury and property damages in the family's lawsuit against Plano-based Aruba Petroleum Inc.
According to the lawsuit, Aruba Petroleum had 22 natural gas wells within a 2-mile radius of the Parrs' property, with three wells in close proximity to their Texas home. The closest was 791 feet away.
As a result of poor management and lack of emission controls, Aruba Petroleum created a "private nuisance" to the Parr family by producing harmful air pollution and exposing them to harmful emissions of volatile organic compounds, toxic air pollutants and diesel exhaust, the lawsuit said.

air pollutants and diesel exhaust,
They being sued over the crappy equipment doing the frac job, not the fracking itself.

If they could prove air pollution, good for them but I dont think fracking has anything to do with that

Glad the family drilled them. 791 feet is ridiculous.

the family obviously allowed it to happen or didn't protest the location before the drilling started.

Don't bother yourself... there is so much misinformation and ignorance regarding all of the topics mentioned here.

Most people don't own the land 791 feet from their home and don't have the resources to fight an oil company unless a law firm will take their case knowing they will win a lawsuit, which would never happen before drilling started.

It was next to their propert, not on it.
How do you protest something you have no clue will happen? Chemicals in her body?
I have a very close friend who owns a tracking co and have intricate knowledge of the process. That's damn close to a home.
You should Google a pic of a tracking setup. It's not a compact setup like a land rig.

I used to work there and can tell many horror stories. What I said is well deserved.

Why would they?
Did the site require something beyond a PBR? If it did, were they issuing complaints during the public commentary period?

Ugh I'm an idiot, that's what happens after 6 hours of CPA studying. If they are fracking, they have to be upstream :/ . I usually only deal with the large suppliers/distributors, and I've never heard of them.
