Fortunately for Alabama residents, incest is odorless.

You calling anyone smug when it comes to where they live is laughable.

good for the Gumps, I'd say without looking it up, Louisiana probably has closer to 30 million visitors a year.

Then look it up. I gave a link listing 24 million for Alabama only because you acted like there was nothing here and nobody ever visited this state. I proved not only do we have millions of visitors, I'd be willing to bet our numbers are at least comparable to Louisiana's.

The study said 26.6 million people visited Louisiana in 2012, spending $10.7 billion compared to the 25.5 million people who visited in 2011 and spent $10 billion.

So about 2-3 million more than Bama but relatively similar revenues so Bama's per person visitors spend a good bit more.

I would bet Louisiana will beat that 26.6 million mark this year.

So my 30 million guesstimate is just about dead on.

"Daddy, daddy, daddy! Can we go to Montgomery for summer vacation!"

Seriously... What is unique about alabama?

FWIW, my assessment is skewed towards gumps and their mindset. I know some people from Alabama I actually like.

1. Montana- No
2. Alaska- frick No
3. Utah-See Above
4. Wyoming - Pretty, but no
5. Texas- Meh
6. Hawaii- Ok
7. New Hampshire- Meh
8. North Dakota- FUUUUUCK NO
9. Colorado- Ok
10: Vermont- No

It seems as though the people in a lot of these places (particularly North Dakota, Vermont, Wyoming, Alaska, Utah and Montana) are either lying to make themselves look better, or they actually like it there. However, that doesn't mean it's a great place to live. It takes a special kind of crazy to want to live in the great frozen north.

So like I said, very comparable numbers visit Alabama as they do Louisiana.

Wasn't someone saying something about people being smug a moment ago?

Not really, what makes a great place to live is that place being where you want to live. It's a ll a matter of perspective and opinion. They probably look at us here in the south with our hot humid weather and think it takes a special kind of crazy to want to live here.

I'm not smug. BR is an bible thumping shithole at times and I'm not lauding it, but as a state, (and if you ignore N. LA) it's at least interesting.

Interesting is all a point of view. What one person finds interesting to probably totally different than what someone else find's interesting. Just because you find something to be (or not to be) interesting does not mean your opinion is fact to anyone but yourself.
