Must be attainable by at least one person in reality, I know kids is an obvious answer but I am looking for the things that are "WTF they did that" type of things.

If you read Ecclesiastes, the point of that book is showing that almost everything that man pursues is just vanity--acquisition of wealth, building a lasting legacy through children, building a lasting legacy through politics or science... whatever.

Pretty much the best thing any man can do is spoken of in Ecclesiastes 5:17-19 ( LINK):

quote:

17 Here is what I see as good: It is appropriate to eat and drink and prosper from all the toil one toils at under the sun during the limited days of life God gives us; for this is our lot.

18 Those to whom God gives riches and property, and grants power to partake of them, so that they receive their lot and find joy in the fruits of their toil: This is a gift from God.

19 For they will hardly dwell on the shortness of life, because God lets them busy themselves with the joy of their heart.

Be a difference maker - family and community. Help someone who can't help themselves everyday. Change the world one day at a time.

Maybe best way I can articulate mine is for, "The people that know me the best to respect and love me the most."

Doc and 4 have answered this accurately.

I've known successful people (by the world's standards) who were abject failures as parents. They also weren't very happy with their work.

If that's the price of "success", I'll pass.

Sacrifice to do something for somebody and never let anybody know. As soon as you've told someone the gesture is hollow because you were paid back in recognition.

Figure out the Grand Unification Theory of physics and explain the universe from and before the beginning. And make Einstein look like a lightweight at the same time.
