I'm reading My Losing Season by pat Conroy right now. I have to spend hours a day reading laws as it is now at work. Any other book reading for me is generally entertaimment.

If Rand is anything competitive in a place like Colorado, that is not good fricking news for Hillary. If Rand can win Colorado, Rand may be tougher to beat than Obama was for Hillary.

I agree.
The republican front runner is going to draw way more than his fair share of fire from media sources. That's the downside of Rand's popularity for now.

If it's not Paul, it's going to be Jeb Bush or the outside shot of Scott Walker imo
I really don't want to see another Bush , but Jeb will definitely be up there. Walker would be interesting.

I do think Paul has a pretty good shot to get the nomination though. He's got a fresh message and if you believe all the talk on here the average conservative is hungry for something new.
I don't agree all the time with Rand, but I do respect his effort going to various places like Cal, for example, and at least trying to connect with the "other side". I think he's done a very good job on that part of things, but he does have a solid message. I certainly would pull for Rand over a good portion of the GOP

The things that scares me about Paul is that if he wins he will meet resistance from both parties and will not be able to deliver on any of his campaign promises
probably

Especially on the Defense budget. It's amazing how both parties defend that level of spending.

Do any of y'all feel Gary Johnson would be a good running mate for Rand?

If Paul wins the GOP will come around rather quickly.

Johnson just re-enforces the same niche Paul is running on. I think if he wins you see him tap Rubio. Then propose comprehensive immigration reform. It's the best time for the GOP to strike to gain a better share of the latino vote. Plenty in the conservative base won't be happy, but his limited government approach should be enough to keep them in line and energized.

My choice would be Judge Napolitano, but that's not going to get him any extra votes.

I hope you are right but congress is a stubborn bitch and has to be beaten on the head with a sledgehammer numerous times, it seems, to change. One thing is for certain and that is I am happy we are even discussing the seemingly legitimate shot that Paul has at the POTUS seat.

Still say neither Paul nor Cruz will get a vote in the Northeast. Rubio would get some but VP's don;t carry much weight. Gary Johnson? who?
and I am hoping the Dems can find somebody other than Hill

No Republican will win in NE, except perhaps New Hampshire, unless the Democrats put up somebody absolutely awful.

Glad to see that you keep up with politics.

Definitely a vp pick

I used to think Suzanna Martinez (NM) might make a good VP selection, but the Palin burn is deep. She's no Palin but she's not exactly over-qualified either.

Outside of Florida, I'm not entirely sure him being Cuban will help with other Hispanics.

I tend to agree with this. Bush did well with the Cubans because of Jeb and also seemed to capture enough of the Mexican-American because of his tenure in Texas. I don't believe Mexican-Americans feel any connection with those from the Caribbean islands.

I would like to see him tap Rubio. I think that has potential for a good ticket but I'm sure the republicans will mess it up when clowns like santurium and the like force everyone to pander to the retards of the party
