It's people. Soylent Green is made out of people.

Some people have funeral services for miscarriages. My aunt was unfortunate enough to have two stillborn babies.
Completely different things.

You may be shocked to discover how much those reichtwing bible thumpers take care of those "former fetuses." They don't have the same "jump infront of the parade" mentality that Dem politicians have.
So we just assume ever fetus would have wanted a religious ceremony?

Aborted Babies from Canada being burned and used for power in Oregon
Well, on a positive note, we'll never have to worry about these aborted babies growing up and being in danger. I mean now they're safe from the homosexuals, right?

Once the fetus (baby?) is removed (sometimes in sections) and the once pregnant woman walks out the door......what is it?
Seriously? To the person with the tissue (remains?) it is bio waste. Is THAT person supposed to have a funeral for it?
I just don't understand what is thought to have been happening with body parts left behind.
It's interesting that the entire direction that the legal system has taken to determine whether or not a fetus is a human being revolves around choice. If a woman decides to abort her pregnancy, the fetus is not a human, but is "medical waste." However, if a mother is killed while pregnant, or if she loses a fetus based on physical harm, the loss of the fetus can be considered a homicide.
That in and of itself should be thought provoking, yet in the national dialogue, it's not. A fetus, if left alone, will continue to develop until it is born, in which case it is considered everywhere to be a human child. The fact that fetuses are being incinerated to generate power is taking things to a whole new - and very disturbing - level.
This story sickens me. I'll not sacrifice decency for energy efficiency.
BHP, I usually agree with most of what you share, and I respect your opinions, but I completely disagree with you on this one.

Morality aside, you realize that's not at all what's happening, right?
Of course you do.

I plan on being cremated. Is there a way I can opt for being burned for fuel? Makes much more sense.
It's the same thing.
The ONLY difference is they are using the waste heat to boil water. That's it.
It's not being burnt for fuel, and in fact it is taking available energy away from the actual fuel being burnt.

I can't wait to see the wake up call that this country is gonna go through.. I don't even care anymore... I just wanna watch it happen.

Does this include the "partial birth" ones, where they pull it part of the way out and then suck out the brains?
There's a line where it is a distinct problem:
On the one hand, "We were so happy that our 27 week preemie was saved, isn't medicine wonderful?"
On the other hand, "Thank God I got rid of that problem, wasn't due for 10 weeks anyway, it's my right to choose! Burn it for fuel."

This. The moral degradation of the country is sickening to me.

The fetus is NOT incinerated to GENERATE power. Power is used to incinerate. And, it is happening everywhere. This place simply uses the heat energy that is EXPENDED to incinerate and recapture a part of it.
You cannot cremate a body by simply putting a match to it and letting the chemical reaction take place (coal, firewood, etc).
Again...the bio mass will be incinerated and fuel will be expended in order to accomplish this task.
The choice is simply...let the heat simply go away or use some for another purpose, too.
It is more akin to me having a facility that melts scrap metal. I have to USE energy to melt it. heat is generated as a natural course of that process, It is not GENERATED by the metal..it is input into it. But, there is excess heat. So, I capture that heat.
The Abortion / anti-abortion is a separate issue. The argument of Baby v Waste is different also. The waste in this case is not used to PRODUCE energy. Energy is expended to incinerate it.
The facility in question just recaptures some of the energy expended. But, again, the "baby" is not ''burned as fuel'

On the issue of abortion I think we are dealing with moral bankruptcy as a country. The suspension of disbelief as to how barbaric abortion is mind-boggling.
The same people who have no problem with the disposal of this medical waste will be the first
lecture us about how we shouldn't abort the lives of the most heinous criminals rotting in prison.
The same crowd who support PETA and want to make sure our chicken processing plants are not being cruel in the slaughtering process.
How did we get to this place where we have such a divide in the morality of progressives and conservatives. FTR I'm hardly a christian fundamentalist.
