Yep. Ask the people in North Dakota about what the economy is like up there due to all of these workers.
As long as they play it smart and don't build a community to accommodate for a temporary population spike. Looking at you Odessa, tx. They are always hiring bc they built up the area so much but everyone left when the plant work cooled Down. They pay $16 an hour to work at mcdonalds and never have more than a few sections open in restaurants bc 1. they can't staff all their businesses properly. And 2. They don't have as many customers as they did.
Nearby Gas stations and mom and pop restaurants will make a killing. Along with bars, strip clubs and other sources if entertainment. Hell, the meals on wheels/roach coach type deals make bank with that many people.

just your typical NIMBY person.
well would you like it if someone was going to put a facility like this next to your home? The people who oppose this apparently live in a rural area. Based on the letter, they have concerns about their safety and the infrastructure affected by this proposal. I dont see the problem with their concerns or POV.
They live in the sticks because they don't want all the shite that accompanies densely populated areas. Thats what cities are for. House these stinky bastards in town.

How typical move next to airport complain about noise, live in an economically depressed area and complain about a plant that is going to bring jobs, somehow imagine the same person both riding a bus and clogging traffic as well in their own car? If I saw this written on a shithouse wall in bangladesh I would know someone from LA had been there.

instead of bringing in foreigners how about taking people off welfare and having them do the work?
People on welfare don't possess any marketable skills
Man camps are going to be necessary down there but I wouldn't want one next to me

I agree. I wouldn't want it next to me either, but look where it's at. You've been down there. There's nothing down there.
There are a few homes, but where else would they put something like this?
It's either house these people, boost the economy or leave SWLa. the way it is and let the money go elsewhere.
I just don't see that happening.
This HAS to be done. ...and they are about as far out as they can be....
Again, people are complaining but offering no solution.

Again, have you ever worked in an industrial setting? You don't just set up Da'Quan or Billy Bob that's been living on welfare for all his life with a welding torch or a wrench and put him into that setting.

and they want to dictate what another person does with his/her private property, which is crazy

North Dakota isn't booming because of workers, its booming because of petro dollars. Ask the folks there how much they enjoy these blue collar, bored workers with more money than they know what to do with and nothing to blow it on. If they have outlets for the workers to spend their off time and things to do, then it should work out. But outside of WalMart and McDonalds, not a ton of money will be spent in the area.
Hell the earnings aren't even staying in country, foreign workers will remit most of it home.

I assume these projects won't be TWIC required?
I'm not exactly sure, but I would imagine so considering this site will be on the Calcasieu Ship Channel.

This is the biggest thing. There are plans to build one in my parish as well. They plan to house 5000 workers in a parish that only has a population of 10,000. It raises a bunch of questions and concerns but with a declining tax base its hard to argue with the possibility of an economic boost

That's the overall sentiment in the KPLC Facebook comments. Of course, that page has gone full retard a long time ago.
They'll be screaming this at the height of construction while they sit at home on welfare and no plans of going out to work.

"Foreign workers will be shipped in from as far as Asia" applying or paying for a TWIC card.
The construction companies, I'm sure, will have to be liable for that.
I'm sure they will have guidelines in place . They're not just gonna say "hey, come on over and get to work."
I've worked with MANY of people of mexican decent, and they all have to get TWIC cards.
