Someone starts a thread saying "let's talk about Les Miles..." ...idiot Sabanistas immediately turn it into a Saban thread. I hate out fanbase sometimes.

This couldn't be further from the truth, I live in the south but not in Louisiana, every single time I tell people I'm an LSU fan the other person laughs their arse off, tells me how much of a loser, douchbag bag les miles is.
That doesn't happen a few times, every time 100 percent.
Is that what a national icon is?
I live in Orlando, in the south as you may know, surrounded by Gator, Seminole and many other fanbase fans. Not everyone likes LSU, however, can't recall but 5-6 times since Les has been at the helm that any of those fans laughed at or though badly of Les. Far more times than not, they love the person Les is and how he represents LSU and think he is a positive asset for our university. As a coach he's not perfect, no coach is. He does love our school though.
You obviously don't talk to many people at all!

But if you like him what do you like?
If you dislike him what do you dislike?
I think my biggest complaint about him as a coach (and no, not clock management- see worse more frequently) is his seeming lack for the "feel" for the direction of the game sometimes. And I'm talking about during the games, not overall. Sometimes it manifests itself in him pulling a RB when he just seems to get rolling; other times it's changing gears at the wrong time on offense.
Then again, there are times he pulls a Hatter and then changes the momentum of the game at exactly the right time.
So... maybe it's lack of consistency in his feel for the game I'm really complaining about.
I only stated a negative so don't read to much from omission, overall I'm a huge fan of Miles.

Fat finger down vote, but came back and did an up vote.

While I can't say Saban is a bad parent because I don't know that for sure, I can observe his behavior and the results. More than one article has been written about Les Miles and the time he spends with his family, how he cares about players, etc. but I've not seen one written on Saban from his perspective. Pretty telling in my opinion.
When I see Saban screaming at his players and throwing his headset I'm glad he is not our coach.
I like the "total" package that Les Miles brings; yes, including his press conferences. Those are golden and one day a whole generation will only wish they had been around to experience Les Miles. And some of the NegaTigers on here will then pretend like they actually liked Miles while he was here.
He has had some game management meltdowns but in reality those have been very few. And don't forget, Saban has had his as well. Les Miles is a winner and a great recruiter. I wish we could win it all every year but that just doesn't happen. I enjoy the games and the current success we are having as a program. LSU is consistently mentioned as a contender every year with the potential to make a run at the NCG.

i guess i have no trouble admitting that i am human. i have made sooo many mistakes in my life that i find compassion for others. i love les miles and his coaching. i appreciated his handling of rp. he did it to protect his team from a cancer. lsu won a lot of respect with his principles. posters like kjntgr and other negative posters are not in anyway perfect, but, they have learned to criticize in their infant nurtureing stage. they are just repeating the judgement that they suffered from their parents. esp their fathers. posters here are but a reflection of their feelings about themselves. kjntgr is saying more about his own self worth than about miles.
Psychology Boom.

this is an incredible statement. do you try to straighten them out or do you pussy out. anybody who says les miles is a loser is just plain out stupid. how could a person making 4 mil a year leading one of the premier programs in the land within the rules of the ncaa and winning an average of 10 games a year be a loser? most of his players love the guy and he leads a program that consistently has the second highest graduation rate in the SEC.
as far as him being a douchbag, your "people" are the ONLY ones I've heard of that supposedly say that. I don't know the man personally but I damn sure trust my judgement over any one that says les miles is a loser.
i'll bet you don't make 4 million a year and your "employees" love you. i'm just gonna say if you think les miles is a loser WHAT DOES THAT MAKE YOU?

You come into several threads bringing up Alabama's success and shite.
It's pathetic, and you're pathetic. I'd rather be a "loser douche bag" than someone like you which is obviously worse.

He is actually averaging closer to 11 wins per season than 10, 10.56 over nine years. I like him because he is entertaining, wins a bunch of games every year and has done a great job of representing LSU.

So because his kids had issues had issues as an adult and teen that would make him a "bad" parent. Sounds like he has dealt with issues that any parent has just on a larger scale because of who he is.
It isn't a direct link to bad parenting, but can be symptomatic of it. That coupled with his very storied and publicly documented over obsession with the 'game' would substantially suggest more tangible derivation of the notion that Saban is a bad parent versus your abstract sensory interaction derivation that he is a good one.
You can't be an obsessive perfectionist in one area of your life, and be truly successful at another.
He chooses 'the game' to throw all his time and energy at. His need to feel important and legacy is sourced through national media and shiny trophies instead of love from his own family.
It's actually sad and pathetic, but not nearly as pathetic as how many people idolize him for it.
A very telling symptom of a ugly sickness thriving in today's society

I own a business that caters to high rollers from all over the southeast and US and many of them are big football fans. Believe me, most don't think Les is a joke, most of them admire, respect and even like him. I've had several tell me the SEC is better of with him roaming the sidelines. Take it for what it's worth.

This is my take on CLM:
I'm from plaquemines parish and I know Brad Sylve (bama DB and someone Miles and his staff recruited heavily), his step father Crutchfield, Duke Riley, Rockey Duplessis, Lorenzo Phillips, and a few others who have actually gotten to know the man... They're take on him is WAYYY different than the people on here who bash the man for no apparent reason, other than the fact that he's not Saban...
When talking to these people, they all say the same exact thing about him: they respect the man so much.. The same goes for their parents... Even Brad and Crutch have a lot of respect for the guy.. All of them admire his personality, his honesty to the recruits and his players, his love for the game, and his passion for guiding very impressionable KIDS through a tough, busy time in their lives
There is no stat for this, and no way of measuring the effect of Les on these people, but I would bet the house that you won't find a better on the field / off the field combo in the country..
Whether or not you guys want to admit it, there's a lot more to being a college football coach than wins and losses... People need to appreciate what this man does for the lives of these kids and for this university while he's here... The grass isn't always greener...........
I would LOVE for my son to play for this guy

I didn't read this before I posted, but this goes hand in hand with what I said, just from a different angle... Well said my friend

You must be a big time omega....I also fit the profile of living in the south but not La. anymore. I NEVER have people laugh at me and tell me how much of a loser and d-bag Les Miles is. I have to admit I carry myself like a guy that doesn't take any crap though. Tells me all I need to know about someone who claims to be an LSU fan and gets mocked openly in public.

It's like he takes the old adage "dumb like a fox" to a new level. The only problem is, every once in a while, he gets outsmarted.
