AHHHH...you read Mother Jones....all makes sense now...
Posted on 4/18/14 at 3:26 pm to samson'sseed
Not having to have a valid ID to vote is just fricking stupid.
Posted on 4/18/14 at 3:27 pm to samson'sseed
How is it that one out of every four black adults doesn't have a valid ID? Is it a cultural thing?
Posted on 4/18/14 at 3:29 pm to samson'sseed
But how many instances did the same "voters" show their ID to get food stamps, welfare, SSDI, SNAP...
Is that number greater than the instances of voters being turned down at the polls? Do tell.

No, they have ID and just before elections the white man steals it.

Voter fraud is a red herring for sure. That being said, it isn't difficult to get a photo ID.

You just contradicted yourself.

A lot of black people in the south, especially black women, never learn to drive. One-third of all black people over the age of 16 in Louisiana have never owned a DL for instance.
That's part of the problem. The other part is just a lack of effort to obtain a photo ID.

You don't need a DL to get an ID. Lack of effort is ridiculous. Dems will haul you to a mall to get you registered with an ID.
The problem with ID is that is makes Fraud more difficult. Fraud is a major contributor to Dem voting.

How so?
Voter fraud is a republican red herring, pure and simple. It's a claim used to support legislation that limits the number of people who wont vote for them having access to vote.
However, obtaining a photo ID is so relatively simple that I don't have any sympathy for people who lose their ability to vote based on voter ID laws. It wouldn't be an issue to be taken advantage of if people just too initiative.

I know, which is why I said it was only a small part of the issue.

I agree, which is why I called it lazy and why I don't feel sympathy for them if they lose their ability to vote. Doesn't mean the laws themselves aren't purely for political gain.

Not it isn't, and I hate the democratic party.

You said that voter fraud is easy to do. That means MILLIONS of cases of fraud could happen. It only happens with Dems. That's why Dems oppose ID.
Therefore it is not a red herring by GOP by definition. What do you not understand about this contradiction?
Voter fraud is either a red herring and does not exist. Or, it is real and is therefore not a red herring.

So 1/3 of all black people over the age of 16 have never tried to buy tobacco or alcohol? I find that very hard to believe.

If it is not a major contributor to Dem voting then why are the Dems fighting so hard against voter I.D.?

Yeah, kind of a 180 from those dems who want to give 11 million illegals the right to vote, right.

Too fricking bad. If they're that lazy they don't need to be voting anyway.

No I didn't, I said it was a red herring. The ease with which is could happen is irrelevant, the fact is that it doesn't happen at anywhere remotely close to the rate republican talking heads say it does. It's a bold faced lie.

The dems oppose the laws because it almost exclusively disenfranchises democratic voters. This isn't rocket science.

It's a red herring because it doesn't effect election outcomes but republicans say it does so they can disenfranchise blacks and Mexicans. It really is just that simple.
I despise most of what goes on within the democratic party, but I will not have my intellect insulted by republicans by being told their motives are pure on this issue.

Because they want all the black and hispanic votes that voter ID laws exclude.
It really is simple, I promise.

Agreed
If you buy that the democrats just want those poor Mexicans to have the right to vote, you're an idiot. Just as you're an idiot if you believe the republicans methods for voter ID laws are pure.
Everyone wants votes. This isn't about fraudulent votes, its ALL about REAL votes.
