Is the new "pray for a walk/error" college baseball style affecting attendance?

It seems attendance is down for many schools this year in college baseball. (actual attendance that is)

Or are people not making enough money for the Box prices? (seriously, I don't know. I live out of state and don't make it to the new Box often. When I do, I have tickets I buy cheap from a relative who owns season tix)

Maybe it's because people expect NC or bust every year and when we lose a few, they completely lose interest. However, this wasn't a problem in 05-07.

IMO, it's a combination of not being perceived as a team who can win it all and the fact that this new style of game is like watching 7 year olds play coach pitch. Just praying for an error.

It's super cheap to go to baseball games.

You don't have to pray for an error in coach pitch

That and 75% of the SEC games are on TV.

The style is hurting attendance. No one wants to watch a snooze fest. The 09 bats were perfect but the NCAA hates baseball. You know it is bad when the greatest fans aren't even packing the stadium half full on Saturday

The stadium is sold out + SRO's for every game.

Actual attendance is considerably down and I do believe the boredom factor for the way the game is played now is affecting actual attendance.

i used to hit my bosses up for their tickets every year. There were always some available. I really have no inclination to go. The game has been neutered to the worst degree, and yes, attendance is suffering.

The NCAA has taken a great product, one that was growing across the nation, and turned it into a snooze fest. Its one thing to sit through a game with seven combined hits when two outstanding pitchers are dueling it out. Its actually a treat to see that type of pitching. It's another thing to sit through a similar game with limited hitting because the equipment was designed to reduce the offense.

Absolutely, most games lack excitement, and most games now are decided by walks and errors. The casual fan at Alex Box would rather stay home and watch on TV. Since we're drawing about 6000 on a good night, you can figure the other 4000 who paid for tickets but do not attend are those casual baseball fans.

Baseball is hard to watch and boring enough already, now they have dumbed it down even more. It's like watching a 3-0 Bama/LSU slugfest in football from 1967. No one wants to see that. If you can't get hits and runs, the pitchers have all the advantage, and the defense is so skilled that nothing gets past them, what's the point of playing offense in the first place.

People can't invest 3 hours of their life every weekend watching a pitcher hurl 90 mph balls and 'a swing and a miss' by every batter.

imo, there is NO DOUBT that the new bats have taken A LOT of excitement out of college baseball. they went too far. yes, we need to protect the pitchers but this is ridiculous. this is going to reverse the growth of college ball around the country, LSU included. suddenly, you are overpaying for a game because it is boring to you. I love pitchers duel and I love good fielding and good baserunning. most of the people I know love friggin home runs. Even I want to see more homers, doubles, and triples; it is now an occasional thing.

I have season tickets in the grand stands. I usually go to 2 games on the weekend and give the third to different clients. It has become almost impossible to give the tickets away because the games are such a snooze fest. The new bats have absolutely ruined the game.

I was actually going to make a post very similar to this and didn't have time.
I think the ncaa will find that it has killed college baseball in another 8-10 years.
Remember college baseball was nothing, even in the SEC until Skip made it fun and cool to watch. I love baseball, especially college, and even more so lsu, but today's games are borderline unwatchable

Went to the Saturday game against Georgia and a buddy of mine said "damn shame when fans are sighing when a blooper doesn't fall in", and I said "or when a bunch are cheering when there is a walk."

That was a great game pitched by Poche', and I love to watch a good pitching performance, but yes, the luster of the atmosphere was very dim.

That being said, I also noticed how small the players seem to be, or rather, how thin they are. Must be a sign of the times since the steroid era
