Ranchers family had permits from the BLM in the past that were revoked. I understand his frustration as someone who has to deal with the Forest Service on a regular basis.
The Feds are using horrible tactics in this case though.

Do you have a problem with the cattle crazing there, I dont, technically we are part owners of that land. frick THE GOVERNMENT.
So, let's say Rancher Bundy decided to graze his cattle inside Yellowstone Park. Would you be OK with that, too?

Did he have permits to graze there in the past that were taken away?

There is a post in the comments from Bundy's daughter giving the backstory to all of this.
quote:
By SHIREE BUNDY COX:
"I have had people ask me to explain my dad's stance on this BLM fight. Here it is in as simple of terms as I can explain it. There is so much to it, but here it s in a nut shell. My great grandpa bought the rights to the Bunkerville allotment back in 1887 around there. Then he sold them to my grandpa who then turned them over to my dad in 1972. These men bought and paid for their rights to the range and also built waters, fences and roads to assure the survival of their cattle, all with their own money, not with tax dollars. These rights to the land use is called preemptive rights. Some where down the line, to keep the cows from over grazing, came the bureau of land management. They were supposed to assist the ranchers in the management of their ranges while the ranchers paid a yearly allotment which was to be use to pay the BLM wages and to help with repaires and improvements of the ranches. My dad did pay his grazing fees for years to the BLM until they were no longer using his fees to help him and to improve. Instead they began using these money's against the ranchers. They bought all the rest of the ranchers in the area out with they're own grazing fees. When they offered to buy my dad out for a penence he said no thanks and then fired them because they weren't doing their job. He quit paying the BLM but, tried giving his grazing fees to the county, which they turned down. So my dad just went on running his ranch and making his own improvements with his own equipment and his own money, not taxes. In essence the BLM was managing my dad out of business. Well when buying him out didn't work, they used the indangered species card. You've already heard about the desert tortis. Well that didn't work either, so then began the threats and the court orders, which my dad has proven to be unlawful for all these years. Now their desperate. It's come down to buying the brand inspector off and threatening the County Sheriff. Everything their doing at this point is illegal and totally against the constitution of the United States of America. Now you may be saying," how sad, but what does this have to do with me?" Well, I'll tell you. They will get rid of Cliven Bundy, the last man standing on the Bunkerville allotment and then they will close all the roads so no one can ever go on it again. Next, it's Utah's turn. Mark my words, Utah is next. Then there's the issue of the cattle that are at this moment being stolen. See even if dad hasn't paid them, those cattle do belong to him. Regardless where they are they are my fathers property. His herd has been part of that range for over a hundred years, long before the BLM even exsisted. Now the Feds think they can just come in and remove them and sell them without a legal brand inspection or without my dad's signature on it. They think they can take them over two boarders, which is illegal, ask any trucker. Then they plan to take them to the Richfeild Aucion and sell them. All with our tax money. They have paid off the contract cowboys and the auction owner as well as the Nevada brand inspector with our tax dollars. See how slick they are? Well, this is it in a nut shell. Thanks"

What exactly are the snipers doing there?
There are certain people across the nation that will happily escalate this as far as fedgov wants to go. One would think fedgov would be the cooler head in this situation. Or at least one would hope.

What most folks are upset about are the heavy handed ness of the feds. We saw it here last summer, and they are having hearings about it. In that case, EPA "stormtroopers" swooped down on dozens of family mines to make sure there were no clean water violations. People were pissed.

After reading that, F$%k the gov't!! That's some bullshite. I hate the fed's. I've had my own dealings with them. You can't win. Just give them some money and they'll go away.

According to Bundy's daughter he quit paying his fees to the BLM. Is this why his permits were revoked?

I agree. But he should have kept paying the fees owed to the BLM. This gives them an excuse to revoke his permits I'm assuming?

I agree. But he hurt himself more than he helped when he quit paying his fees.

Yeah, riiiight, Ms. Bundy. And the courts and the BLM agents are all communists, too, seeking the destruction of America and an end to humanity, itself.... because they prefer a tortoise to a decent, hardworking man.

I generally have a low opinion of most LEOs. But, what what should be done? Should the rancher be allowed to continue to trespass?
It's fairly simple to me. All of these strong-armed tactics should stop. If they don't stop eventually something bad will happen.
The governor of the state or the state AG should contact the the Feds and ask to handle it. Let them diffuse it. The state officials could really help here. We need some common sense rather than enforcement of the law at all costs.

The grazing rights were changed in 1993 by the BLM.
quote:
t ”Bundy’s beef with federal land management officials dates back to 1993 . . . when Bundy’s allotment for grazing his cattle on public land was modified to include protections for the desert tortoise. Bundy, who told the Associated Press his family has been ranching this part of Nevada since the 1870s, continued to let his cattle graze anyway.” So the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) took his cattle. And then, according to mynews3.com, arrested his son .

When the Park Service was expanded here in Ak, many trap cabins and homesteads were burned down.

They would have just pulled some type of eminent domain BS, they were taking it anyway you look at it. Like I said FTG.

[quote]So basically the only similarities are the feds being involved. Or do you think the feds should have left David Koresh alone and ignored the child abuse in the compound[/quote
That's how I do it. I burn the kids and all to protect the kids from child abuse.
