Shady Rest, under the overhead bridge West Capitol Street, Jackson. Sadly closed in 1962.

Hickory House on West Capitol. Sadly closed in 1971.

Blue Moon in Columbus, MS. Sadly closed in 1976.

All friendly sources of Amber fluids, first rate burgers and lard fried taters. What more could one want in a restaurant.

I was telling someone about that place recently. That was the place where the whole wall on one side was an aquarium, right?

The owner was a Jefferson lawyer named Jack Dunn. He went into the tank in scuba gear and got nipped by one of the "Sharkys". The only reason he didn't lose the whole arm was "professional courtesy".

I would have listed this one above, but I couldn't remember the name. Thanks for the reminder.

METAIRIE, LA. METAIRIE, La. (AP) _ A 6-foot tiger shark in a restaurant fish tank attacked a diver who had climbed in to feed other fish.
Wiley Beevers needed 75 stitches to close the bite on his arm, said Jack Dunn, one of the owners of Sharky's Reef Restaurant in suburban New Orleans.
The attack happened Friday as about 50 people were dining, Dunn said Monday.
''They got to see something a lot of people hope they'll never get to see,'' said Dunn said. ''They were concerned for the diver, and were relieved to see he was OK.''
Beevers left the aquarium on his own and was taken to East Jefferson Hospital, Dunn said. He was released a few hours later.
Dunn said divers routinely go into the 135,000-gallon aquarium to feed fish. The shark had never before bothered a diver, he said.

OK, my memory's not what it used to be, but Beevers was a lawyer, too, so the joke still holds.

The Green Derby in Jackson was a good down home restaurant with excellent enchiladas and ribs. We tried to make there every time we were in town for the Ole Miss game.
