Just how epic a failure has Jozy Altidore's move to Sunderland been?

With whom should most of the blame lie? Altidore, sunderland, coaches, teammates?

Jozy. He's lazy, he's not an out and out striker, he's scared of contact, he can't hit the broad side of a barn, and he has no confidence.

My son has become very interested in soccer. So, I have been recording Premier League and US Soccer matches for us to watch. Before watching Liverpool v Sunderland, I pointed out Altidore. I thought it would get him excited about the US World Cup team. Talk about underwhelming.

Remember Jozys USMNT scoring drought?

He needs great service I guess.

Jozy's problem is primarily his off the ball movement. It's just not good. I think it's more a lack of instinct than it is laziness.

I'm sure most of ya'll remember that I was among Jozy's earliest and loudest critics. BHO beat me into the ground when Jozy was tearing it up at AZ. Don't get me wrong either, Jozy was in fine form, but when I tried to point out the quality of service he was getting, I was harassed. Now he's at Sunderland and is getting poor service, but he is working hard and his hold up play is going to be necessary in Brazil, even if we can't rely on him to score goals.

Altidore move to Sunderland has been an almighty flop, his performance for the USA has no bearing on how successful his ove to Sunderland has been.
