How about an entire boat with decoys and accessories? From Ducksouth.com...a kid that goes by OneShotPayne.
Last year, while leaving Madison at one in the morning to go hunt some public land near Vally Park, we made the mistake of thinking the weight of our decoys and blind bag would hold our boat on the trailer. Later we found out that it wasn't enough weight. When we arrived at our duck hole, we saw that there was nothing on our trailer. Yea...we lost all of it. If there is anyone who knows where I could find any of this stuff it would be greatly apprechiated. If not I have to come up with about 800 dollars to pay my dad back.

It's hard to stop thinking about it after it happens but you try not to let it ruin your whole trip.
You obviously improvised, adapted and overcame.![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/Iconcheers.gif)

Not sure how you had your reels facing but I always put the reel closest to the cab, and the rod tip towards the tailgate. If you face them the other way they can and will blow out.

I'll remember that. The reels were to the tailgate. I don't remember what name brand reel but I know it wasn't cheap. They were under the kayak. No weight from the kayak was on them but it would've had to slide forward then blow over the kayak.

I've been putting reels in the bed of a pickup for 16 years and haven't had one blow out using that method. I have however picked up a couple from folks who faced them the opposite way. The way the wind blows back into the bed it lifts the rod tip from the cab and starts lifting the rod up. Once a good wind catches it it blows over the tailgate. By facing the rod the opposite way the extra weight of the reel keeps this from happening.

I've always stuck reels against the cab. Never had them move much.
Only thing I've really had blow out of the bed are beer cans

I was going fishing last summer and stopped at the mcdonalds on Drusilla before heading out. As I pulled out the boat trailer hit the curb and I watched it slide onto Drusilla. Talk about a sinking feeling.. Looking back it was funny to see a boat sitting in the middle of Drusilla Lane. A couple guys stopped and helped. Bad thing was it put a hole in the boat.

same here. i've had a dry t-shirt ride around in the bed of my truck for a couple of weeks, tucked up against the cab.

I once had a tackle box stay on the top of my truck from Charles Park to ASH before some guy flagged me down. ![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/IconLOL.gif)

and I've my buddy's boxes bounce/fly out of a bay boat on two seperate occasions. I still can't understand how a 50+ lb tackle box can do that.

Craig Shuff almost threw me out of his boat on Rayburn. His 75lb tackle bag was the only think keeping me in his boat.
