What the hell happened to Stroubes? They have gone downhill in the last year. I used to eat there a lot. So much of the menu has changed.

How long has the people who own Cap. City Grill been invovled? I would suspect since that point. IMO, Cap City grill is one of the worst restaurants in BR. They serve absolute dog shite. And this is coming from someone who is not a picky eater. I can generally find something I like at any place except for Cap City.

Since it opened.
It has gone downhill since the chef left.

They opened it and they own it. Dykes.
And I have eaten there twice in the last six weeks and it's the same to me as it always has been. It's not incredible but it's not bad.

I would rather have Stroube's over that sodium induced Restaurant IPO

I would hope the quality had stayed constant, but I haven't been since Vanardo left. Best option for me was to treat the apps like small plates and hit them hard...but I'd still get an entree .

Isn't he now that guy making it?

Stroubes can suck my nuts. Got their $40 filet mignon one night, came out looking like a backyard sirloin. Got my fricking money back. Will never go back.

The blackened chicken at CCG is off the hook.

I wish Mr. Volland much success. Hopefully, it's not an "upscale" oyster bar. Frankly, I'm not going to break my arse getting downtown for the privilege of paying for high priced oysters. OK, maybe I'll give them try if they are consistently busy. There's nothing like eating east coast oysters that's been out of the water for two weeks.

Whats your affiliation with the parties involved in this new place?

It won't be fancy. And supposedly they will look to have 10-12 different variety of oysters at all times.

My affiliation is that of a potential customer.

Sure man.
So a place that you're hoping isn't upscale, a place that you won't break your arse getting to, a place that you have the privilege of paying for high priced oysters, and a place that might be serving two week old oysters.
But Yea you signed up because you might be a potential customer....

I'd love to see someone reopen Phils on Government St.

That's why I commented, not why I signed up. I signed up to comment on the closing of Dempsey's on Jefferson Hwy., but new tigerdroppings' accounts aren't activated immediately and I had to wait.
"NOTE: You cannot post until after you verify your email address AND your user account is approved and activated by an admin.
Accounts are usually activated within 24 hours."
During my wait, I changed my mind about commenting on the Dempsey's post and decided to comment on this one. I hope that clears things up for you, Jones. Your suspicions are understandable but unfounded.
But back on topic, I do hope Rick's oyster bar is successful. Considering it's downtown, where at times it appears like a ghost town, I would have picked a product that has a longer shelf life and wider appeal. Hopefully he'll have a brisk lunch crowd and busy Friday and Saturday nights that will ensure a steady supply of fresh oysters.

Nice name for a joint.
Jackson had a palce years ago called "Al's Half Shell". I would answer the phone that way a good bit back in the early '80's back in college....not really sure why. I don't think any of my callers ever figured out why, either.
