The Arthur legends have been done a million times but a good gritty semi realistic version might get some traction.
If someone did Cornwell's Arthur trilogy, that'd be pretty freaking awesome.

I think I would also very much like to see the Chronicles of the Black Company (the Black Company, Shadows Linger, and the White Rose) made into a TV series. The rest of the Black Company books I could do without, but those are all very good.

I loved the crystal shard. Drizzt needs a show or movie.

I really would like to see the dark elf series, the underdark was badass. His training, attending Melee-Magthere, the destruction of guilty houses, his trip through the under dark with Belwar Dissengulp, and Guenhwyvar.

I came here to suggest Bernard Cornwell's books. Either the Uhtred books or the Arthur books would be epic if done right. They'd have to be rated R, and be gritty. The warriors would have to look like grizzled medieval warriors. A complete badass would have to play Uhtred or Derfel.
I'd also like to see something on the Crusades, and on the last century or so of Rome.

I'm reading the Ten Thousand now and honestly I'm a little disappointed. The writing is dry and I'm a little bored. Looking forward to Gates of Fire next.

Steven King books. Each series a different book. That's what I want first.
But Rome and Caesar would be cool if done right. Gaul is on the whole divided into three parts.. .
Gehngis Kahn as a super dark almost thriller/horror hybrid would be really cool.

Conn Iggulden's Genghis series.

I'd like to see a miniseries of Gaiman's Neverwhere. They did a British one, but I think they could do it Justice with today's tech.
Yeah, would be cool to see a good version of that book.
The Lies of Locke Lamora would make a superb movie.
Joe Abercrombie or Mark Lawrence would both translate well with their gritty, low magic fantasy.

Be tough to do this with the kind of budget they would get and do it justice. I'd like to see it though.
Seeing Lady and the rest on screen would be awesome. And though he's already done Ned, Sean Bean would make an excellent Croaker IMO.

it wouldn't be feasible. There are just way too many intricate battle scenes with a ton of aes sedai doing all sorts of random shite that would require a lot of CGI. Maybe as a cartoon but a series would just be ridiculous in terms of cost.
This. It would be terrible. Just think of Nynaeve versus Moghedien the first time (Tanchico, maybe?). They are both literally just standing there throwing weaves at one another. I seriously doubt they could pull that off. Or when Rand is fighting Logain in Rhuidean. At the end, they are both holding onto the sa'angreal and fighting each other with weaves while not moving a muscle. It is just so much better with one's imagination.
Besides, WOT is 14 books with more subplots than GOT (though GOT might be catching up in that regard). After seeing how much they had to change GOT due to limited budget (the neutered Direwolves primarily), I don't want HBO anywhere near WOT.

I would love to see this. This is a far simpler story that really just follows one character the whole time, but so much awesome mythology.

The Belgariad
This is certainly doable. I would love to see this as well. Any of David Eddings's books in that universe or the Sparhawk universe would be good.
I would say Sword of Truth but ABC already absolutely butchered it with The Seeker. I couldn't make it past a few episodes. They even started really wrong by making Richard about 15 years too young. When they made Darken Rhal the brother of Richard instead of his dad, I said, "Nope" and never looked back.

Locke Lamora and the Kingkiller chronicles would both be very adaptable.
