Anyone have it in the past year or so? I'm having it done arthroscopically in less than 2 weeks on a Friday and plan on going to work on Monday; feasible? How long was the rehab?

If I can't use my arm why hang around the house doing nothing when I can go to work & get paid?

Appreciate the offer but I think I'll pass this time

Feasible yes. Your arm will be strapped tight to your body and completely immobile so it's not like you're really in much pain. But I had to rig up a strap just to close my car door. Rehab is long and a bitch. Your arm will feel almost detached when you first get the rig off and start rehab.

About 4-6 weeks in the sling and about 6-8 weeks before you get the majority of your range of motion back

Well that just sounds like a lot of fun. Can I assume that I can take the sling off to shower? Could you use that hand at all?

Was told 3 weeks in the sling. Sucks not to be able to fish for a long time though

Depends on what kind of work you do.

Don't know if you care but you shouldn't drive on pain killers. If they offer a nerve block take it. It will get you through the first 12 hours or so pain free after surgery. Are you having it done in the BR area?

Yes to shower.
You will have no desire to use that hand for a couple of weeks, not even if it's your FAP hand.

No active range of motion for quite awhile after surgery. I wouldn't suggest using it even if it doesn't "hurt".

No in Tampa and I'm not driving myself home. The surgeon said they were going to use a general so I'll be out. I will be careful on taking the pain meds and driving to & from work.

my surgury was pretty evasive. Doc said he would try to fix it with scope only, but once he went in it was torn up pretty bad, and he had to make a 4-5" incision. i was in a sling for 3-4 weeks and then went through therapy for another 6. you will be eating pain pills like candy come monday....

Sounds rough. My surgeon said that mine was "torn pretty good" and he'll have to do some "bone scraping" while he's in there but fortunately I have a high pain threshold.

Had labrum repair surgery week before Christmas and was in sling for 4 weeks. Have completed 3 months of physical therapy and still dont have full range of motion. You will be able to move arm/shoulder after about a month.Your arm will feel tight from scar tissue for a while. Good luck with your surgery and recovery

Ive had a tear in my AC joint for the last 3-4 years and surgery is the last thing I want to after hearing about the recovery from shoulder surgery. It only bothers me when I move/lift my arm a certain way. I just deal with it now but who knows how bad it will end up when I get in my 40's and 50's.
