Guys, I will be doing some training for the next 3 weeks in Houston near Westheimer Road. I was wondering if I could get some recommendations on some good restaurants who specialize in the following:
1) Mexican (TexMex)
2) BBQ
3) Buffalo Wings
4) Etc. (Wild card)
TIA

That's one of the longest roads in Houston. You need to be more specific on what area you're talking about.

Try out Reef for good seafood. It's not far from where you are staying IIRC.

I'm not really worried how far I have to drive as long as it's in the Houston area... Gave the location for a reference.

We went to Houston last weekend.
We ate at The Taste Of Texas Steakhouse Restaurant. My Wife and I enjoyed our meal there.
We Drove to Lock heart Texas on Sunday and enjoyed some great BBQ at Blacks Smokehouse & Meat Market.

A buddy and I followed some cute girls down westheimer....circa 1983........ That road got dark, we were drunk......yadda yadda yadda.....we ended up stuck in the mud trying to make a U turn. No shite, a tow truck rolled by and pulled us out for free. People were more.......more people like back then.

1. El Tiempo and Hugo's
2. Killen's and Gatlins
3. Traditional wings...BWW or Pluckers, probably. I really like the Spicy wings of Paradise at Thai cottage
4. Pass/Provisions, Reef, Mockingbird Bistro
Search for Offshoreangler, his posts usually have great recommendations

Check out Chinatown (Bellaire Blvd) for your wild card on a Sunday. Try the Dim Sum at Golden Palace or Fungs Kitchen.
While in the area you could check out Hong Kong Mall.

1. El Tiempo on Richmond or original Ninfas on Navigation
2. Kinda far, but if you have time to kill try "swinging door" down in Richmond. To me all the BBQ in the city is about the same - Goode company if you don't want to venture out.
4. If you want fresh decent fish, try "Trulucks"

El Tiempo is great, so is Chuy's.
The fiancée is saying Cafe Lili or Phoenicia for the wild card.
Hay Merchant is a great gastropub.

Seriously ? We used to have service anniversary dinners there and I've never been anything but impressed with their steaks. Has it gone downhill in the last two years ?

I didn't think it could live up to the hype, but those beef ribs were incredible.

We did the five meat plate today, just to try as much as we could...the pork belly is unfricking real, beef ribs are probably the best I've ever had. The 1 hour wait in line was so worth it.

Go to Los Dos Amigos and get the enchiladas with fried eggs on top. fricking amazing. The famous "beer can house" is less than a half a mile away too, so you can drive by there on your way out.

Wife and I ate at the Black Walnut in Rice Village a few months back. Found them from Urban Spoon. We both enjoyed it very much.
Thai Cottage is the tits. Haven't had the wings, though, so looks like that's next. Maybe for lunch today or tomorrow.
