Judge goes one better and gives the State PERMANENT custody of the child.
All I know is there'd be some dead motherfrickers if that was my child.

In case you may have forgotten how this all started:

In case you may have forgotten how this all started:
quote:
The Department of Children and Families took emergency custody of the teen on Valentine’s Day 2013 after a diagnostic dispute arose between some doctors at Tufts Medical Center and Boston Children’s Hospital over the causes of her medical problems, including difficulty eating and walking.
Tufts doctors had been treating Pelletier for mitochondrial disease, a group of rare genetic disorders affecting cellular energy production, but physicians at Children’s concluded that her symptoms were largely psychiatric in origin. Her parents rejected the new diagnosis, and when they tried to move the girl back to Tufts, the Children’s team notified the state that it suspected the parents of medical child abuse.

Does the state of Connecticut have no say in helping their own residents out in this case or is it waived by going to a Mass hospital to begin with?

Trying to show the parents who's boss for daring to go to Fox News with the story.
It really is outrageous and the people that live in that state should be up in arms.

Absolutely ridiculous

There has to be more to this story. I know Massachusetts is as liberal as it gets but there has to be a good excuse for the courts to grant permanent custody to the state.

I keep hoping for the same when I see outrageous stories like this... please don't let people be this petulant....

They're alleging child abuse, huh. No real coverage of that in the story (mentioned the allegations but no real evidence of the abuse presented). I wonder what the girl wants?

Nope... parents were doing everything suggested by their primary doctor then Boston's Childrens Hospital decided the primary doctor made the wrong diagnosis and it is better to be under their care(care being used very loosely here).
Parents are very limited to their visitation and have no say in her treatment. Needless to say the girl is going down hill health wise and barely functional.

This is the part that infuriates me. When the state took custody of the child, she was ill but was a normal teenager otherwise.
Since she's been in state custody - with no input from the parents - her health has steadily declined. Why anyone with even half a functioning brain would allow her to remain in state custody is bind moggling.
If the parents were abusing her, then prove and charge them. If not, give her back to mom and dad.
My fear is she will die, and dad might go berserk and wind up in jail or worse.
One of the most f'd up situations I've ever heard of.

Yep... What's even more bizarre they have a 2nd daughter with same diagnosis as the daughter at Boston children and being treated and living a normal kid life with the parents.

Which would seem to indicate that the Tufts doctors may have it right.

i'd pull an Ocean's 11 and try to get my girl out of there

I think Boston Children's fricked this up badly.

That judge would conveniently disappear if I was that dad. I was actually going to post this earlier when I saw it. This has to be one of the most fricked things I seen in awhile and of course is getting no play in the news.

The judge's ruling is crap, but it all goes back to Boston Children making a completely bonehead call.

Close your eyes and imagine this child being black.
I hope like hell there is a lawyer out there that ends up getting hundreds of millions of dollars from the state for this family.

One day the innerweb is going to spawn a Terminally Ill Vigilante group.
So, suppose I have 6 months to live...I do you this "favor" (without you ever asking..so, no conspiracy by you).
And..what? Oh, I'm going to PRISON? shite, I have six months to live. By the time the voir dire is over...I'll be cremated.

I would take her out of the hospital and dare them to stop me. Hopefully, there's way more to the story, but I don't see why they won't treat/assess for the mitochondrial disease in light of her worsening condition.
If it's my child and she died, I would kill some mf'ers. Guaranteed.
